his death
and how it was received by the people who heard it first. In the book of Acts God the Holy
Spirit is the main person. And His name shows up 70 times though out the book. When the
Savior told his apostles to wait in Jerusalem to witness the power of the Holy Ghost they
were considered ordinary men, after they witnesses the power of the Holy Spirit, they
became pure in their purpose and would always be triumphant in their quest. As one goes
though the book of Acts you see how the story plays out. For example in Acts 1 it tells of
the Ascension of Jesus; and Matthias chosen by Lot, in Act 2 the Holy Spirit come at
Pentecost, and how Peter preaches, and the people gather to hear the word, in Act 3 tells
how Peter heals the lame man by powers given to him by God, Acts 4 tells of how Peter
and John are both arrested and then released, Act 5 describes the death of Ananias and
Sapphira; and how the imprisoned apostles are released from jail by an angel, Acts 6 tells
of how the church ordain seven men to the office of deaconship, and how Stephen is
arrested for blasphemy at the temple. When reading the book of Acts we can see that all
throughout the history of the apostles they faced arrest, jailed for blasphemy, performed
miracles with the help of God, and still remained faithful in their convictions of the Holy
Ghost.

the origin of letter. To fully understand the meaning it needs to be read with a tradition
of wisdom literature since the book shows how the conviction that “the fear of the Lord is
the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).
Peter 1 The book of Peter 1 is an apostolic letter that was written to all who believes in
general. The letter is written by Peter in the year 60 A.D (Harbin, 2005). When Peter wrote his
letter he wrote it to a church that was suffering persecution (Harbin, 2005). The letter that
Peter wrote was addressed to the believers in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and
Bithynia; all are regions in the modern Turkey (Harbin, 2007). In the book Peter 1 he writes of
the issues that the believer is having in life and how important it is to have a personal
holiness with God. He explains to all Christians that they should expect to have suffering as
part of their normal and spiritual lives; he even goes on that it is normal to

took the sins of mankind and died on the cross for all mankind. Peter then tells in
chapter’s three to five that the Holy Spirit lives in the believer. So in part a person living a
good holy life is obeying the commands of Christ and Peter (Harbin, 2005). As a believer
peter claimed that each person is obligated to preach the word of God and about hope.

intended for the seven churches of Asia (Harbin, 2005). The book of revelations was written

about the things that are, in chapter two and three he was to write of things to come or take
place. In the book of revelations God tells John to write to the churches

seals. In his vision when John broke the seven seals he
had the vision of the Messiah returning to collect all that had been faithful.
The six seals that are referred to in Revelations are the four horsemen, the vision of soul
under an altar with cosmic disturbance. The seventy seal is a “silence in heaven” that
initiates “God’s wrath (Rev 6:17- 8:1). When we look back to the Old Testament Zechariah
1:8-11 and 6:1-8.it tells of the visions of John and the seven seals. The horses in the book of
revelations represent a symbolic representation. In the book of Zechariah the horses are
referred to as the four horsemen and when they are released will bring disasters to all
mankind. The first seal is displayed as a white horse with a rider and a bow. This may
represent the divine and just retribution for sin. The rider of the white horse is named
“Faithful and True () and he judges and declares war with justice. The second seal or red
horse is a clear definition of war, slaughter, and bloodshed. The red horse’s rider is the one
who take peace from the world and wields a great sword in his wake (). The third seal or the
black horse displays a horse and the rider with scales in his hand. The scales may represent
food being rationed during times of famine as in Leviticus 26:26 (Kroll, 1997). The fourth seal
or the pale horseman is the depiction of Death, and Hades following behind him. Revelations
1:18 say that only Christ can unlock the dead from their graves, the four horsemen will only
bring the immense suffering to the human race. The fifth seal is

because of the word of God and the testimony that had maintained Revelations 6:9.
The sixth seal is the cosmic signs, with John visions he saw great cosmic disturbances, the
stars fall, the moon did not shine, and the sun turned black. In the Exodus 19:18 Isaiah
said that when the time of coming of the Lord would shake the earth (exodus 19:18). The
seventh seal is the described as the day of the Lord. The day of the Lord will be a day of
great despair, darkness and gloom, a day of blackness (Revelations 1:14). The day of the
Lord is when the wrath of God will be felt not in spiteful or hateful ways. It is God’s holy
response to those that have not repented their sins and cause misery and suffering
mankind brings onto itself (Kroll, 1997).
What john tried to convey to the people was that even with the beauty of the city, there
are three points that must be remembered by all mankind, one is note the presence of
God and the Lamb, second, the tree of life seen in Genesis three, and last there are no
more curse (Harbin, 2005). After letting all know about the visions and the impending
arrival of the Messiah John wrapped up the book that had been given to him. Letting the
people know that they should be aware of the life that they lead, and how it will affect
them with the coming of the Messiah (Harbin, 2005). The book of revelations does not tell
when the Messiah will return, it is only written as a guild to what the Messiah expects on
his return.
