Week Seven Discussion Board Thread Instructions
3-2-1:
After reading the selected chapters in Courageous Faith, determine the chapter that you would like to
write about this week and identify the following items:
3 key ideas from the chapter on this character in Courageous Faith.
2 things you learned about this character from your reading in Courageous Faith.
1 way you can use what you have learned from your reading on this character in Courageous Faith.
Once you have identified these items compose a thread of at least 400 words that not only states but
also explains each of these items. Your thread should contain at least one quote from Courageous Faith
to support the thoughts and ideas you are presenting your thread. For an example of this type of thread,
please see the provided example in the Course Content folder.
For this week’s discussion I choice chapter 13, Building for the Future, in Courageous Faith. This chapter
explains building a future for your self and leaving a legacy you can be proud of. 3 Key ideas I got from
this chapter was one how to properly build for the future. We all face hard times but during these times
there’s a turning point. During this turning point you come up with a plan of action. You work hard
during this time and put your plain of action into action to accomplish your goal. When the job is done
you sit back and celebrate you accomplishments. The Second thing I learned was you never know what a
person is going threw in their life so be kind. A little kindness can go a long way and might be the turning
point in someone else life. And the third key idea I got was to work hard but to enjoy life at the same
time. Set goals for yourself and make a plan of attack to accomplish your goals when you have reached
your goals sit back and enjoy were you are in life. When working hard you can take the 5 minutes out of
your day or time to enjoy the sunrise or sunset or taken that extra 10 seconds out of your day to stop
and smell the flowers then get back to working hard. You can enjoy life while you live it. Because life can
live you or you can live it.
2 things I learned in this chapter was “Selfish people don’t think about the future” (Hindson. E Pg.193) I
never really stop and thought about that before. I had that kind of switched up in my head and always
thought selfish people got further ahead. I never stop to think that a lot of selfish people live in the now
and they must have all this nice stuff now, some even going far into debt to have it. In the modern world
we live in wealth is mainly determined by the cloths you have, the car you drive and the expensive things
you own. All that comes with a price and more people are relying on credit making them have big time
debts they can not pay. But in the future, it will cost them a great deal. You can not buy happiness with
money nor can you buy love and you most certainly can’t buy the lord. People get so caught up in the

material things in life they loose track of things you need that you can’t see, touch, smell or look at. Such
as happiness, love, god, Jesus, hope, faith and so much more. They don’t relies that its never to late for
god and sadly they turn bitter. Living in the now can cost you the future.
The other thing I learned and took from this chapter was how I need to take a step back and look at
myself and what kind of legacy I am leaving behind. I never really gave it much thought. I just lived life
and enjoyed it. I never really cared about what others thought of me and just did me. However, while
reading this my Aunt pop into my head for a moment she built a recycling center in her old home time in
Colby, KS. Her husband job was relocated there many years ago. She was mad it didn’t have a recycling
center, so she started with a small little lean 2 pole shad wit 4 trash cans under it. Over the next 10 years
she worked hard writing grants and using the money to build a much bigger place. Now it is a sorting
place and is very large. She would have been proud of how it turned out. Sadly, she passed away of
cancer before it grew to were it is now. But she was around long enough to see it grow into the building
it is now just not all the machines and employee’s it has. A year before she passed it was dedicated to
her in her name. She will always be there with her name. That is something like I personally want to
leave behind. The chapter made me sit back and think about how in my own life, how I can be a better
positive influence on people and leave behind a legacy that influences others.
1 way I can use what I learned in this chapter would be to sit down and make a goal, after which to make
a plan of attack for my future and follow it. I am at the turning point in my life and after 15 years in retail
I am no longer allowed to do a lot of labor-intensive stuff due to an accident a few years ago. As a result,
I decide to follow my dreams and go back to school to become a therapist. When I was a retail manager, I
would always reward my team and buy pizza or do take out each week after truck was done and put
away. This helped them work harder not only on the day but during the week. They appreciate me as a
manager and it clearly showed in the work they did and how my store was one of the best in the district.
We celebrated when a job was well done. I have learned that when setting any goal in life you have to
have commitment, motivation, teamwork, decision, goals, an accomplishment and then a celebration. If
you lack in any of these then the rest of the work will show, and you will lose interest leaving a project
unfinished. But if you have a realistic view of the present, optimistic views of the future, honest
assessment of resources, positive attitude about change, and specific plan of action you can accomplish
anything. But if you set the bar to high for yourself or don’t have a good idea of what your working with
or how hard it could be you can easily set your self up for failure.

Week Eight Discussion Board Response Post Instructions
Once you have reviewed the selected readings from Courageous Faith select two threads you wish to
reply to and address your classmates' thoughts and ideas. The goal of these two posts is to build on the
material provided by your classmates. Thus, responses that simply affirm the thread material are not
sufficient. The content of each reply must reflect an excellent knowledge of the textbook reading and
interact with both the thread and relevant chapter material. You must support your thoughts and ideas
by implementing at least one significant quote from Courageous Faith. Each response post should be at
least 200 words in length.
Submit your thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 7 and your replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET)
on Friday of Module/Week 8.
