For my gestalt project, I incorporated the law of symmetry and aspects of continuity.
Originally, I wanted to create a moth, but in order to push myself, I created one that looks like
ocean waves. Taking a closer look, the foam from the waves makes up the antenna and thorax
whereas the waves make up the wings and abdomen. Symmetry is pleasing to the eye and an
aspect of gestalt, so I made both sides symmetrical for the most part with minor differences that
add character and set certain elements apart in the project (i.e., the abdomen not being
symmetrical, random bits of foam and water splashes, etc.). Regardless that the entire design is
not completely symmetrical, it is still well balanced.

The second gestalt law I incorporated was continuity. In drawing a design that is more
elegant and cleaner in nature, overlapping lines are inevitable and it was important to make these
instances look smooth and not separated. Also, even though some of the lines that indicate the
waves stop, the eye still follows the pattern and direction that the line had been going, especially
in the upper abdomen and wings of the moth.
