When making an artwork there is a creative process people follow. There are different
steps that can help our artwork get to the final product. The first set of steps is content release,
this incorporates getting everything out of your head by making lists, schedules, and writing
thoughts. The next step under content release is asking questions like who, what, when, where,
and why. After content release you start with your brainstorming. The goal of this step is to end
up with your creative solution, you can do this by listing, free writing, discussion, brain mapping,
and outlining. When you have completed these two steps you should take a break! You need to
give you mind a break so you can start the next part of the creative process. The last step is to
begin sketching, start adding visuals to your ideas, do some thumbnails, roughs, and comps. It is
always helpful to have a critique on your work to get feedback on your work. After getting
feedback it is good to make revisions. One artist who has a beautify look on the creative process
is Pablo Picasso, he says, “To draw you must close your eyes and sing. I begin with an idea and
then it becomes something else.” I think his work is so imaginative that this quote makes since to
the way he paints. I also really like this quote because that in a since is how I do my work, I put
music on and sing while I work. In my arts222 class last year I had to follow the creative process
for my projects. This helped me get an idea I wanted for my project and execute it better.
Another place I used this was in high school working on the yearbook. We would go through the
whole process in order to come up with cover ideas and page layouts. The part I find most
helpful about this process is making thumbnail sketches and getting critiques. In the future I will
use the creative process a lot in my job. I plan on going into a career in the graphic design field
and using all these steps will help me plan out my projects very well. Overall, the creative
prosses is a very crucial part to every artist’s project making process.
