This is a topic that I relate to so well, I have a friend that I work out with that has a similar belief
than I do as a follower of Jesus but not agree with the origins, or the events that happen in the
bible. Those who may not agree with the bible or scripture per say, may have an outlook that is
different with yours, but they cannot ignore the factual points that are made through history,
there are manuscript copies from thousands of years ago that would not just be a coincidence.
Imagine, the bible took place some events taking place thousands before Jesus and there was
many manuscripts proving that there was a messiah who was written about and how they
yearned for his return.
If someone does not believe in miracles I would ask, do they even know what a miracle is? It is
simply not a lucky coincidence, but an event that happen that no man or women can attribute to
but must be from a divine intervention. Most people of the younger generation have picked up
new age practices, that sound like Christianity but with less accountability if the way they live
and purity. Instead, it is based of self and the will that you have and gain through energy, I find it
effective to learn why they agree with whatever practice they do and to share the word of God
through their own beliefs. For example, my good friend believes that blessing is from himself
and his own doing, but what I always tell him is that the bible speaks of sowing and reaping and
receiving all things from God, not from what your works can obtain. We believe in similar
things, but the devil is always at work trying to deceive people. Scripture says he “Be alert and of
sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to
devour” (1 Peter 5:8). as we read the article during the inside out assignment the author states to
use logic, there is plenty of scripture that someone can agree to pertaining to miracles without
3
you stating the actual verse whenever I talk to someone about Jesus and they reply “ well how do
I even know that Jesus is real and how would I know that he died and rose from the grave”. They
are dismissing the resurrection of Jesus and his existence; I always reply with asking them do
they know the definition of faith. The Merriam webster dictionary says, “firm belief in
something for which there is no proof.” Stating that although we have not seen Jesus, we rely on
the hope for things we have not yet seen, when trying to get to their heart by using logic, I
always ask them do they have faith. It does not have to be in Jesus, but do they have any form of
Jesus.
The only difference between the believer who has their faith in Jesus and the non-believer who
has not yet, is that their faith may just be in the wrong thing. The bible describes faith as “Now
faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
Although we have not seen Jesus that is our hope that we have through conviction when
addressing the resurrection of Christ, it may be challenging to address. Although you did not see
the presidents prior to when you were born you still believe that they were your presidents based
off words of men who documents events prior to our birth. Now what is the difference between
your belief of Jesus and his resurrection and your 10th president. A reminder to give someone
who has this belief system is, where is their heart? They do not believe out of fear, out of lack of
knowledge or because the Christians that they have encountered were hearers and not doers od
the word. The holy spirit is the one who changes a person's heart, scripture said that they will
know you by your fruits. Whether they are a believer or not always remember that if you say that
you believe Jesus, live it. Your testimony and how you live will prove why you have been saved
by the Grace of God. when someone tells a non-believer that they believe the death and
resurrection of Jesus and they are on fire for the Lord, it will not go unnoticed. J warner said that
he affirmed the big bang, meaning that he had to have believed some sort of miracle. The big
4
bang was not a true event that happened in history but if so, it would be considered a miraculous
event. Everyone believes something that happened beyond what the human brain can phantom.
Every day we experience things that are outside of, time space and matter yet we overlook the
simple things the experience of the mind. from the resurction to the historical miracles within
the bible, these events are not hard to understand or comprehend.
