Describe Your Worldview
To begin with, I personally feel like my worldview is a Biblical worldview as I often find
myself looking into the Bible for answers when I find myself at a crossroad. However, I
understand that the Bible may not always provide the most direct answer to every situation,
therefore, I also believe that the interpretation of God’s word is extremely important as it is
fairly easy to misinterpret it. Although I am a firm believe that God can answer all our questions
through His word if we look deep enough. In addition, the scores I received in the Biblical
worldview report showed that in all sections, my beliefs were either highly or moderately
consistent with a Biblical worldview.

Evolutionary Psychology (Compatibility with my Worldview)
Moving on, according to our textbook, the definition of evolutionary psychology is “An
approach in psychology defined by its attention to biology and genetics as sources of
explanation for human learning and behavior” (“Introduction to Psychology”). Evolutionary
psychology believes that we have been molded and “evolved” into the humans we are today
over time, however, the Biblical worldview which I go by, believes that God created man almost
instantly in the Garden of Eden, therefore, this is one of the reasons that would lead me to
believe that evolutionary psychology and my worldview are not compatible.
In addition, the Bible says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
he created him; male and female he created them” (Gen 1:27, ESV) The concept of creation
goes directly against the concept of evolution, creation is immediate action, as opposed to
evolution which would be a process. Therefore, I think through scripture, it is possible to
identify that a
Biblical worldview and the evolution theory do not go hand in hand.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Evolutionary Psychology
Lastly, when it comes to the strengths and weaknesses of evolutionary psychology, one
of the strengths is that it has been proven that life can develop into complex forms and
therefore provides accuracy to the theory (“The Theory of”). Furthermore, there is also further
evidence provided by scientists such as physiological, bio-geographical, and fossil evidence to
help prove the theory of evolution. Another strength for evolutionary psychology is that
researchers have used the initial concept and further refined it into a more reasonable idea.
On the other hand, the weaknesses of evolutionary psychology starts with its main
weakness, which is that it is indeed a theory, and not a fact. Although there maybe scientific
evidence to prove this theory, the evidence may have certain gaps in them and therefore do not
provide a full picture. Finally, the idea behind the evolutionary theory does not give a purpose
or reason to life, as opposed to the idea that we were created by God for His glory. With that

being said, when weighing in both the strengths and weaknesses of the evolutionary theory, it is
possible to argue both ways, although it is not something I personally agree with.
