Lecture series
I watched the lecture video, “Global Engagement” by Ajay Vinzé on November 2nd. This lecture
talks about the importance of globalization in the world. Also, everyone is involved in global
engagement, it just depends how much effort you put into globalization to see greater results in
involvement. What I expected from the video was more talk about the environment not how it
effects our future and jobs in the world today. What surprised me the most was that, even when
you don’t intend to be involved in globalization you are involved, because everyone is
contributed to it no matter what. Also, in the video it gave a lot of information about the world I
didn’t know. Information that I found interesting was that Singapore is the number one country
that is easiest to do business and the U.S is number four. Also, the number one longest life
extensity is Japan with 82 years old and the U.S is number 38 with 78 years old. The video made
a metaphor of how everyone over hurtles to get through life. The 3 most general hurtles in order
from easiest to hardest is innovation and technology, demographics, and globalization. What I
found interesting is that to be a successful business person in the U.S you need global knowledge
because on customers, suppliers, investors, competitors, and innovations. For exports every
worker gets paid differently by country. Germany workers is the highest pay for exports with
$27,000, then the U.S. is $7,549, Chine is $1,540. Overall, it was a very informative video.
