The Impact of Transformational Leadership Style on Employee Performance and
Organizational Outcomes: An In-depth Examination of Diverse Influences
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: CHAPTER THREE
The chapter provides a comprehensive approach that the study adopts in evaluating the
impact of Transformational Leadership Style on Employee Performance and Organizational
Outcomes through an In-depth Examination of Diverse Influences. The approach provides an
essential overview of how the study was adopted, thus ensuring the results are valid, reliable,
and significant and can be used to arrive at crucial decisions. In particular, the study adopted
the mixed-method approach to provide a comprehensive and objective analysis to ensure the
results are significant and objective. This is based on combining the qualitative and
quantitative methods, thus ensuring the findings are robust, given that they are grounded in
numerical and detailed insight as per the study aims. The subsequent sections detail adopted
methodologies and their relevance to the study.
Research design
The study's research design is mixed, integrating qualitative and quantitative
approaches. The need to form the respective cohesive mixed-method framework was based
on the need to undertake a detailed exploration of some of the existing relationships between
transformational leadership, employees' performance and how this affects the organisation
framework as per the research questions and with such, the mixed-method design is more
appropriate as it gives conditions that leverage some of the critical strengths of qualitative
and quantitative research as a whole. All these enable the study to comprehensively address
the research questions, thus producing a well-rounded analysis (Alhashedi et al., 2021).
The respective mixed-research design approach also plays a significant role because it
enhances the ability to obtain a holistic understanding of the study variables. Combining the
qualitative and quantitative methods allows the study to capture more in-depth and complex
individual experiences. All these are based on the need to provide generalised data to identify
critical patterns and trends. The approach also allows the researcher to ensure a thorough
investigation that would provide some possible aspects of either study method. One aspect
that the design follows in the analysis of the study is based on the triangulation strategy,
where both qualitative and quantitative data are collected simultaneously, thus arriving at
objective results. The respective strategy is equally critical as it provides a mechanism where
the research can provide key insights on the research methods, thus enhancing informing and
undertaking complement findings and enhancing the overall validity and reliability of the
research (Allozi et al., 2022). The integration of both also occurs at various stages of the
research process. All these include the data collection, analysis and interpretation based on
critical facts, thus achieving the study's aims.
Some critical aspects of undertaking the design are based on the need to ensure that
the study adopts deductive reasoning where vital steps are undertaken, thus ensuring results
and approach are objective rather than subjective. All these play a critical role not only in the
short run but also in the long run (BAstAri and Ali, 2020). For instance, the qualitative
approach ensures that the key themes are arrived at based on a step-wise approach that leads
to some objective conclusions. Through employing the mixed-methods research design, this
study produced deep, comprehensive, and broad findings that intended to capture the
complexities of transformational leadership and its effects on employee performance and
organisational outcomes, which is an important step. Therefore, the combination and
advantages of a mixed-approach design ensure that the results are factual and that the
research is thorough, balanced, and well-rounded. Therefore, the study provides some key
insights that can be used to inform theory and practice.
Data collection
Given the mixed-research design, data collection is equally essential to ensure that the
findings are objective. In adopting the same, the study, in particular, uses a research survey.
The research survey was needed to enable quantitative research data through Google Forms.
Such is essential as the research can collect some of the factual data and thus not have any
statistical errors that might affect the ultimate results and findings as a whole. Besides, the
data collection was undertaken through a pre-determined process that ensures that ultimate
results are factual and do not contain any error that could affect the results. Therefore, the
research prompt that was undertaken was effective and efficient (Bass, 1985).
The collection of qualitative data was based on interviews based on essay questions. The aim
is to ensure consistency, and the study primarily answers the research question adopted in the
study's conceptual framework, thus arriving at objective aspects. One key aspect aimed at is
to arrive at critical themes capable of solving the study gap. Moreover, qualitative interviews
can guide the respective development of survey questions and patterns observed in the
survey. The respective data can prompt further exploration in qualitative interviews, thus
enabling the research to arrive at results that can be used in decision-making and forecasting.
A concurrent data collection also allows for a dynamic and iterative research process, where
findings from one method can effectively be used to refine and enhance some of the study
aspects that play a significant role (Boamah, 2022). In general, the use of surveys and
interviews in data collection was primarily aimed at ensuring the results and findings can be
used for decision making and other important steps that can be used to aid in examining the
relationships between variables and test hypotheses that play a critical role. The qualitative
and quantitative data allow for a detailed and rigorous examination of each data set, thus
ensuring that all the findings are more robust and well-supported by facts based on the
assumptions and characteristics of mixed research design.
Sampling strategy
The sampling strategy adopted in the study is the non-probabilistic strategy, which entails
purposive sampling. The aim of purposive sampling was based on the need for some pre-
determined sampling to be evaluated, including the organization's employees, management,
and other corresponding stakeholders. All these are important in ensuring that the study
results are supported by facts rather than mere judgment, which is ineffective
(Charoensukmongkol and Puyod, 2021). Besides, the purposive sampling strategy was
adopted to arrive at results that ensure that the approaches adhere to study aims and set
conditions that can lead to objective results. It also allows for a collection mechanism that
allows for a dynamic and iterative research process. This is important as it ensures that the
study findings from one method can continuously refine and enhance the other, providing
some leeway that can be used for factual results.
Research methods
As stated in the study's approach, which adopts a mixed-research design, the methods are
mixed. The aim of such was to ensure the study results could be used for decision-making
and thus arrive at effective study results. The study's qualitative components primarily aim to
provide a detailed and in-depth understanding of the impact of transformational leadership on
employee performance and organizational outcomes.
The qualitative approach that the study adopts is equally significant based on the capability of
providing a detailed and in-depth understanding of the impact of transformational leadership
on employee performance and organizational outcomes, as in the case study. The respective
research method is equally significant because it captures the various underlying essences of
the experiences of the research questions, as stated (Chen and Wu, 2020). The qualitative
research method also begins with data familiarity, in which the researcher undertakes critical
steps to ensure the researcher is acquitted with the respective data content. Besides, the codes
are generated by identifying significant data features organized in potential themes. The
themes are equally refined to accurately represent the data and capture critical aspects
concerning participants and intended information. The process also involves a detailed
comparison of the data with the themes and revising the themes as necessary to achieve a
coherent and comprehensive representation of the findings effectively. The ultimate themes
are essential, given that they provide a detailed account of the study variables that play a
significant role. The respective qualitative findings complement the quantitative data, thus
contributing to a comprehensive and well-rounded understanding of the research problem.
On the other hand, quantitative research methods are equally important as they ensure that
data are collected in a manner that ensures that numerical data can be undertaken in a manner
that ensures a systematic analysis that aids in the identification of relationships among the
variables and the determination of trends (Eliophotou and Lefteri, 2021). The respective
methods were specifically undertaken to ensure that the resulting results can be used to
answer research questions and determine whether the respective hypotheses are accepted.
Thus, the results achieve some of the resulting solutions that have significant results that can
be used to achieve results that play a significant role. For instance, inferential statistics are
essential as they aid in examining the relationships between transformational leadership, team
member performance, and organizational outcomes, among other vital techniques.
Data analysis
The respective quantitative analysis was conducted using SPSS, which is effective based on
the processing and analysis. Some of the critical tests that were undertaken were descriptive
statistics computed to summarise the demographic statistics of the sample and the distribution
of critical variables. Some of the key tests that were taken into account are descriptive
statistics that aid in determining characteristics, distribution, and quality of data and whether
they can lead to results that can be used to achieve objective results. The analysis of variance
was also taken into account to ensure that critical steps are undertaken and, thus, an essential
determination is achieved with objective significant aspects. The inferential statistic also aids
in hypothesis testing and evaluating the relationship between data variables. The techniques
also enable the researcher to quantify the impact of transformational leadership and identify
the key factors that influence employee performance and organizational outcomes and how
such plays a significant role (Nasir et al., 2022).
The other tests include the thematic, which entails adopting key steps that entail summarising
the feedback based on critical codes and thus arriving at crucial themes based on the research
questions. All these are important as they enable the researcher to be in a position where they
capture some of the complexity and nuance of transformational leadership and its effects.
This aligns with the need to evaluate the role of transformational leadership and how
employees' performance and organizational outcomes affect the entire process.
Both the qualitative and quantitative are thus crucial in arriving at objective and significant
results. And through such, solve the existing gap. All these play a critical role both in the
short-run and long-run. One crucial step achieved as a result is based on the need to
undertake some steps that can be used to achieve a coherent and comprehensive
representation of the findings. All these align with the study objectives, among other
significant considerations.
Ethical considerations
Ethical consideration was also considered to address any concerns that might arise. It also
ensures that the participants are capable of making voluntary participation. At the same time,
they sign an informed consent and confidentiality of responses, thus arriving at results that
can be used for making informed solutions. Furthermore, the respective participants must be
provided with clear information about the study, their rights, and the measures taken to
protect their privacy as highlighted in the university research guideline, which is an important
step. The other aspect considered is that data are anonymized and stored securely to ensure
confidentiality and compliance with ethical guidelines. All these aim to establish professional
associations and institutional review boards. All the respective mechanisms ensure that the
data, results, and findings remain reliable and valid and can be used to solve the research
problem if the findings are factual.
