Ethical leadership addresses issues based on a person's worldview in the professional
realm. Johnson (2021) describes leadership as directing groups toward achieving specific goals,
decisively considering ethical approaches, viewpoints, values, beliefs, and community and
individual relationships. For example, deontological ethics are based on moral principles (Kant,
2017) to keep the decisions stable and loyal to the rules. Among the sub-skills under
interpersonal communication, as noticed by Passarelli et al. (2023), trust and collaboration
increase ethical behaviours. Furthermore, as mentioned by Koukl (2017), spiritual investment
and a spiritually integrated life entail integrating faith into one's career. Therefore, ethical
leadership involves blending worldview, ethical understanding, advanced communication, and
spirituality to promote sound ethical standards and ethical practices in organizations.
Response to Robert Calderwood
The concept of worldview becomes evident in ethical leadership from Robert
Calderwood's reply to Wilma Atalig-Fejeran. Robert Calderwood's insights reveal how leaders
manage ethically sensitive issues based on their philosophy and experiences, giving an
understanding of their interaction within the organizational environment and with other entities.
As a result of self-observation, there is a strong correlation between a leader's ethical and
personal views. For example, according to Kant (2017), leaders who follow a deontological
ethical system based on principles will always focus on the correct moral principles.
Response to Wilma Atalig-Fejeran
Considering ethical dimensions in leadership, a worldview in leadership practices is well
outlined, as seen in Atalig-Fejeran's (2024) publications. In addition, it is crucial to focus on
ethical training and evolution framework. Managers should maintain compliance with
3
established codes of conduct, modify them for new forms of misconduct, and accommodate
multiculturalism. This adaptive approach also ensures that ethical leadership remains strategic
and relevant in fostering integrity and trust in organizations.
