CASA DE PAZ Development Project
Introduction
Casa de Paz (house of peace) is a non-profit organization established to provide
hospitality for immigrants and their families, especially from Mexico and Central America. Most
importantly, it focuses on victims of domestic violence where the most affected people are
women and children (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula & Wells, 2016). The organization focuses on
providing housing and professional services to support healing and transition to the local
environment. The increased need for the organization has increased the strain on its resources.
As a result, additional building space is needed to accommodate more women and children.
Besides, an improved website is required in order to reach out and share the organization's
achievements with more people and attract more funding.
CASA DE PAZ SWOT Analysis
Strengths
CASA DE PAZ has existed since 2014 as a non-profit organization founded on Christian roots.
The founder Sarah Jackson is an astute believer in humanity, family, and supporting the less
privileged especially immigrant women and children. Over the years, CASA DE PAZ has
developed an outstanding reputation within the community, which has ensured partnerships with
local government, immigration offices, and correctional facilities. This allows the organization to
obtain crucial support to resolve immigration and legal issues facing their clients. The good
reputation has also attracted donations from well-wishers. More people have also volunteered to
work with CASA DE PAZ to make a change in society.
3
Weaknesses
The increased influx of people seeking CASA DE PAZ services has grown over the year,
causing strain on organization resources. There is an increased need for more funding, building
space, staff, director, volunteers, and an improved website to support and provide quality
services to the clients.
Opportunities
CASA DE PAZ can leverage its good reputation and partnership with the local community to
mobilize funding for new building and website projects. The high rate of immigration offenders
and the need to decongest correctional facilities present an opportunity for CASA DE PAZ to
extend its support and help more people. The negative economic and social impact of COVID-19
opened new opportunities for the organization. As more people seek CASA DE PAZ services,
the organization can touch more lives by increasing partnership and supporting policy changes
that empower the immigrant population.
Threats
The lack of enough space at the residential facility limits the number of people the organization
can support, which force many people in need to go without support. Turning away people due to
lack of space limits its influence and could negatively appeal to the community.

Proposal #1
CASA DE PAZ needs to increase volunteers and capacity to serve more people. This will
result in improved efficiency in service delivery and enhance satisfaction from our clients and
the community in general. More volunteers have been seeking to offer their services; however,
most of them need more training to ensure they provide quality and compassionate services.
Proposal #2
CASA DE PAZ services are funded through event tickets, partnerships, and well-wishers
donations. Limited funding has limited the ability to serve all women and children seeking our
services. It is important to evaluate more avenues for funding to meet the increasing demand for
CASA DE PAZ services in the future.
Ranking
Besides ensuring projects make financial sense, other criteria are important to consider. A
scoring model can be used to rank the four projects to make the project selection and
prioritization more straightforward. The four projects are ranked based on the following four
question criteria. The ranking criteria range from 1 to 5, where 1 refers to extremely low and 5 is
extremely high.
The four projects are:
Project A – Acquiring a building
Project B – Developing a Website
Project C – Mobilizing more Volunteers
6
Project D - Attracting more Funding

Summary
In summary, CASA DE PAZ is a non-profit organization that provides hospitality
services to women and children following domestic violence. They provide housing and
professional services to support healing, transformation, and transition to the local environment.
The increased demand for the organization's services has caused a strain on resources. Limitation
on housing capacity has seen many people seeking services being sent away. As a result, CASA
DE PAZ is working on several projects to enhance its capacity to support more people. After
ranking the projects based on their objectives, mission and vision, costs, and availability of
resources, the funding project ranked top, followed by the building project, volunteer project,
and website project ranked last.
