Family Member with Alzheimer’s Disease: Mark and Jacqueline
Looking into a person's sense of role performance is also essential. It can be predicted
that Jacqueline's sense of role performance is negatively impacted because she is a caregiver to
her sickly mother. Now and then, she feels helpless, discouraged, and unable to effectively
manage her responsibilities while struggling to take care of her ailing mother. Feelings of
inadequacy and stress may arise from a situation where she finds it challenging to balance her
own needs with the responsibilities of caring for her aged mother. This is a common experience
for most caregivers interviewed at home (Liu et al, 2020). Full-time caregiving is a diverse and
complex role. Identifying the specific positive benefits of the interview for the participant is
problematic. The most clearly positive outcome for the participant is that Jacqueline seems to
experience satisfaction from her demanding role, which she would unlikely achieve if Debora,
the co-worker from hell, interviewed her. She realizes that she is bearing a heavy burden as the
daughter now and is trying to overcome loneliness besides contending with the upkeep of her
mother. It is common for the caregiver to experience stress and pressure in attending to some of
these duties, which can, in turn, affect their perception of role performance.
Jacqueline may be a part of her health problems if she always neglects herself to cater to
the needs of her mother. Some of them could include failure to engage in proper sleeping and
proper social and leisure time engagements, which, if not corrected, could further lead to some
health complications both physically and mentally. It is a common health problem to lack enough
sleep while spending most of their time taking care of their older sick people (Hoyt et al, 2021).
Self-sacrifice is another standard feature in the personality of heroine, such as Jacqueline, who
primarily obeys the demands of their caregiving approach. It grinds effectiveness to a halt and
hurts health, provided the sacrifice is not moderated reasonably. Occasionally, Jacqueline hints at

the inadequacy of caring for her mother to receive appropriate care necessary for body and soul:
she washes, cooks, and takes care of her mother, neglecting essential functions such as brushing,
taking baths, doing laundry, and other daily personal activities. Physical and mental health
depends significantly on the amount and quality of sleep taken at night. Skipping on the required
amount of sleep may cause one to feel drained and vulnerable to diseases.
