Google money machine
I have selected the “Google Money Machine” infographic, because of its detailed
presentation of information. It provides detailed information about how Google made
their money. Along with specific information about Google’s revenue, are charts, tables,
and graphs providing visual representations of said information. In my perspective, with
the information and images correlating, even the small images providing topic/context
support, I feel that it is a use of Metonymy. As copied from the course text, “Metonymy
occurs when a speaker represents a larger idea or process by mentioning a smaller
piece of that larger who,” which I feel the speaker did exactly that by explaining how
google makes their money, mentioning their ad revenue and how exactly that revenue is
made by specific advertisement types. With the infographic being accessible via internet
and included in coursework, like ours, I feel that it is definitely accessible to its target
audience.
In project 2, I have decided to focus on the usage of Metonymy. I feel that the
“Google Money Machine” was a prime example, and very informative about its subject. I
intend to have the access of the infographic I complete to be entirely accessible as it will
also be included in the English 101 section of my portfolio. With the use of tables,
