First read the essay through quickly for an overall impression.
1. Briefly explain to the writer what that first impression is.
The paper that was written by Choudhury was well written. The author, explains how each quote
helps the audience further understand what the author is trying to convey. There are a few things
that should get changed, to help the reader understand how each rhetorical statement allows.
2. Write the thesis statement. If there is no thesis statement, tell the author.
Hooley uses rhetorical appeals to support his argument that you should not honor administrator
by renaming a school after them.

Then read the essay through a second time more slowly, paying attention to the introductory
paragraph, body of the essay, and conclusion.
Introductory Paragraph
3. How can the author improve his/her attention getting opening sentence?
The opening for the introductory paragraph is well started since it allows the reader to think
about the situation. Another thing it does it allows the reader to imagine what they'd do if it
happened at the school they attend.

The author can improve his analysis regarding the purpose of the argument by stating
how each rhetorical statement allows the author to connect with their audience.

evidence/quotations to support her/his opinion? Does the author provide evidence/quotations to
support the purpose?
The author does use enough quotations to support the opinion being stated. One thing that
should be done is explain how the rhetorical statement helps the opinion.
6. How can the author improve her/his analysis of the writers relationship with his/her audience?
Does the author provide evidence/quotations to support her/his opinion?
The author uses a correct form of analysis in which helps the reader see how the type of
persona that the author took helps him be closer to the audience. Through this section of the body
paragraph, there are enough quotations that allow the reader to understand the opinion and make
a connection.
7. How can the author improve her/his analysis of persona? Does the author provide
evidence/quotations to support her/his opinion?
The analysis is well written one thing that the writer can do is further explain how that
persona helps the author voice his opinion. The author uses enough evidence to support the claim
that is being stated.

connect to the opinion editorial’s audience/? Does the author provide evidence/quotations to
support his/her opinion? How can the author improve this part of the essay?
The author uses Ethos to support the editorials purpose to an extent. There is evidence
showing how the author used Ethos but it lacks an explanation on how it connects to the
editorials purpose.
9. Does the author analyze how pathos is used to support the opinion editorial’s purpose and
connect to the opinion editorial’s audience? Does the author provide evidence/quotations to
support her/his opinion? How can the author improve this part of the essay?
The author does not analyze how pathos was used throughout the essay regarding the editorial’s
purpose.
10. Does the author analyze how logos is used to support the opinion editorial’s purpose and
connect with the opinion editorial’s audience? Does the author provide evidence/quotations to
support her/his opinion? How can the author improve this part of the essay?
The author does not use Logos in the last body pargraph. I would recomend adding it and
connecting it towards the quotes selected.
11. Does the author use a quotation sandwich for every quotation in the essay? How can the
writer improve her/his quotations sandwiches?
The author does use quotation sandwich for every body paragrph. I would recomend explaining
how it connects to the rhetorical thinking.
Conclusion
12. Does the conclusion reference the thesis statement?
The author does reference the thesis statement.
13. Does the conclusion leave a final impression with the reader as to the meaning and purpose
of the essay? How can the author improve this part of her/his essay?
The conclusion does leave a final impression to a certain point, but not in a strong way. I would
recomend connecting everything to the retorical thinking.
Diction
14. Are there places where it is hard to understand what the author is saying? If so, write this
directly on the authors paper.
There were a few parts that made it hard for the reader to comprehend.

15. What are two things you liked about the essay?
The smooth transitions between paragraphs, and the explanations of the quotes.
16. What is one thing that needs to be improved in the essay?
One thing that can be improved is the connection to the rhetorical statements.
