The concept of natural resource management in economics
Management of natural resources in the economy is a concept related to how to
manage natural resources in a sustainable manner so that they can provide
optimal benefits for society and the environment. In this concept, natural
resources are considered as capital that can be utilized to improve human
welfare, but must also be maintained so that future generations can continue to
use it.
Several important concepts related to the management of natural resources in
the economy include:
1. Natural Resource Economics
Natural Resource Economics is a branch of economics that studies how
natural resources can be utilized efÏciently and effectively, and how to
allocate these natural resources in order to provide maximum benefits for
society and the environment.
2. Sustainable Development
Sustainable Development is a development concept that aims to meet
current human needs without compromising the needs of future
generations. In the context of natural resource management, this concept
directs the management of natural resources that pays attention to
environmental, social and economic aspects so that sustainability can be
maintained.
3. Natural Resource Conservation
Conservation of Natural Resources is an effort to protect, maintain and
manage natural resources in a sustainable manner so that they can be used
by future generations. This conservation effort can be carried out through
regulating the use of natural resources, monitoring and controlling activities
that can damage natural resources.
4. Community-Based Natural Resource Management
Community Based Natural Resource Management is an approach to natural
resource management carried out by the local community. This approach
takes into account the customs and habits as well as the potential and
needs of the local community in managing natural resources. In this
approach, the local community is directly involved in making decisions
related to natural resource management.
5. In the concept of managing natural resources in the economy, there are
several principles that must be considered, namely: efÏciency,
effectiveness, conservation, integration, participation, and justice. These
principles ensure that the management of natural resources can provide
optimal benefits for society and the environment, and that sustainability is
maintained for future generations.
