Forecasting the Future Trends of Intercultural Business Communication in the Context of
Globalization
COMM 400 INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIONS
SUMMER 2023
Abstract
Intercultural business communication is perhaps one of the most significant topics for the
present and especially for the future given that the term globalization is getting more popular; as
a result, the future of intercultural business communication is highlighted in this paper. The new
complications in organizational communication due to the globalization of business and
development of technology, coupled with the emerging use of virtual work teams make it
imperative to address the complex and multifaceted issues involved in managing workforce
diversity in multinational organizations. Cultural appropriateness and sensitivity are core skills,
and messages must be appropriately modified based on the communication etiquette in the
country, thus havning a connection with the cross cultural communication skills. Despite the
usefulness of adopting artificial intelligence and translator in the translation process, there are
strengths and weaknesses of the methods. Other changes like; Language translation and
interpretation in the process of automating, accepting Artificial intelligence in virtual assistants
and chatbots, and globalization of processes are pivotal. The continued development of diverse
and culturally intelligent organizations is essential with and through practices of diversity,
cultural intelligence, and the right cross-cultural training. It enhances the organizational culture
of the employees in that they respect each other and also enhances the inter cultural
communication with a view of enhancing organizational performance. As globalization
continues to progress at an even a faster pace, it shall be even more decisive to pinpoint and
2
address these areas as the business world transform. Not only does the cross cultural business
communication skill developed in the course enrich the interpersonal communication that
strengthens the cross-cultural business relation but also prepares the organisations to meet the
globalised world challenges. Based on the multitude of aspects characterizing intercultural
communication, it is reasonable to state that the adaptation of an interdisciplinary approach in
question since it is so important to have cultural sensitivity, new technologies, and diversity. It
should also be mentioned that the elements described in this paper should be considered as the
foundation for the further development of intercultural business communication with the focus
on the need for the constant adaptation and search for new strategies to address the emerging
issues in the frame of the globalization process. Through such processes organizations can
develop the best, effective and balanced environment for the interactions in the context of
international business.
Introduction
Intercultural business communication and an understanding of its importance and place in
the global environment so it can be prognosis are necessary in many aspects. Therefore, it is now
necessitate that cross cultural consumer behavior appears in the global markets to reflect positive
interaction that will enhance the benefits of all the parties get to experience. This enhances the
competency, advantage in various regions of the world. New and important factors are added to
the trends that have emerged from globalization and technology especially in the new generation
of TNCs and the improvement in technology, communication etc. Global competition
intensification strengthens the need for sophisticated IFID strategies, especially when it is
acknowledged that the modern workforce Diversity and the dynamic evolution of virtual teams.

cultures and the development of strong intercultural competency are some of culturally
appropriate adaptation. In conjunction with the translation, AI aims to translate/interpret
languages, adopt AI-equipped virtual assistants and robots, and enhance Openness and
relatedness between people and societies worldwide. While supporting the call for creation of
inclusive and culturally wise organisations it sheds light on the significance of diversity and
culture particularly promoting cross cultural sensitivity in organisations to promote respect and
tolerance at the place of work. These components provide the framework for the intercultural
business communication; given the fact that the business environment is steadily assuming an
international dimension, and as there is need for more stimuli and opportunities for fashioning
effective, polite and balanced cross-cultural communication.
I. The importance of intercultural business communication
Cross cultural consumer behavior in the international markets
Culture and consumer behavior processes can always be depicted as a complex yet
indispensable area of consideration for firms that aim to expand their operations in the global
context. Global consumer characteristics such as age, gender, channel loyalty, and usage rate are
not fixed, and for anyone to sell their products successfully they have to appreciate the
differences so that they can apply the right strategies. It is seen that culture pervades almost
every sphere of consumption: the product or service itself, the evaluation of it and even the
attitude and practice of the product or service. For instance, it is evident that with Hellenized-
Mediterranean origin, the cultures such as those of the United States and West Europe have a
high necessity for the need of autonomy and as a result hold high esteem for products that are
distinct, victorious and solitary. Their cultures are collectivist, which are very much seen in Asia
and Latin America where customers place a lot of value to their compliance to the group
4
standards, which in turn may affect their selection of brands and levels of commitment to the
chosen brands. Distance, language, culture and religion, social relationships and economic status
also have an especially important influence when it comes to consumer behavior in abroad.
Cross cultural marketing thus takes into account these factors in that it assists in creating
messages and products that will be accepted in the specified market. Other concern is the
decision on the Global/Local brand management as in many cases the local branding is
appropriate, but at the same time it is desirable to have a global brand image which has to be
well-synchronized.
For instance, while large brands can gain from such potential synergies as lower costs
and more homogeneity in brand images, advertising, and product development to match local
market requirements and customer needs makes market coverage and customer retention better.
Moreover, it is stated that Local Cultural Intelligence can lead to an opportunity to invent new
product that may likely to be demanded in a particular cultural environment. Surving the market
with appropriate market research and the correct application of the marketing mix with
consideration of cultural differences, businesses can achieve their goals in the international
environment, develop competitive advantages for their products and services, and guarantee
long-term sustainable business outcomes. This broader approach to the creation of interfaces for
managing cross cultural differences is not only an organizational necessity but also an
organizational obligation that offers the potential for constructing better and more adaptive
business systems in the global economy.
Ensuring that there understanding between the two parties
The objective of preserving proper communication between two individuals or
organizations in any environment, especially the one where there are cultural differences, is
5
always significant in any business environment. Its serves the purpose of minimizing the
opportunities for misinterpretation and facilitates the dissemination of information,
communication and work co-ordination across cultural, linguistic and organizational barriers. It
means that there is a successful completion of inter-mental activity indicating good
intercommunication and interpretation of each other when using simple language and avoiding
the use of technical terms that may lead to a problem and hence, interruption of
intercommunication between people with different languages. This is important in the process of
active listening which involves listening to not only the information being communicated but
also the communicator, the manner in which the information is received and responded too and
the ability to remember the details of the communication. Inquiring from the other party to repeat
the same using the very words they used to convey their message or in as many words relay the
message as passed by the other party can help in ensuring that a particular message was
understood. Additionally, graphics and written notes are as helpful as other ways of offering
extra information and legal documents that would prevent the participants from distraction with
other aspects of the mater being discussed. The next yet still significant factor is cultural
sensitivity, which is also highly valuable since including the awareness of the cultural differences
in speech, gestures, and manners in the interaction can increase the degree of understanding
significantly. As for the intercultural interactions, there are skills that apply and thus, through
training and development, the necessary skills may be learned.
Moreover, the better utilization of translation gadgets and online meetings, the more
frequent use of video calls and instant communication may help to understand each other bette
through the language barriers and different geographical time. Communication and intercultural
competence are becoming crucial in organizational communication, thus by supporting them, the
6
members of the organization may find better ways of interacting with other people in business. It
is also important to schedule meetings at frequent intervals and to get feedback as often as
possible so that it may be ascertained whether the other party was misunderstand or not and
correction made immediately. Enhancing people’s perceptions of their counterparts in
international business relations, this paper has sought to show that they can not only help
facilitate better short-term business interactions but also the development of trust and partnership
that are crucial for any business in the long run.
Expanding competitive capabilities in various locations
The formation of competitive capabilities in different locations is still considered one of
the key goals of the companies, which are oriented towards the formation of a solid competitive
position in the international market and a number of competitive advantages. This process is a
two-fold process of not only market development in terms of geographic locations but also the
modification of business strategies, business activities and business value propositions according
to the needs and opportunity in those locations. For companies to attain increased capabilities, it
is crucial that they undertake a critical evaluation of the markets that they intend to venture into
because they will have unique economic and culture strength and operational standards that may
be different from what the companies are used to. Therefore, a coherent, but sufficiently flexible
strategic framework can be developed, which will be consistent with the outlined regional needs.
For instance, a firm may decentralize the company in a way that a local manager can manage his
business as they have broader view of the market; but activities that could be crucial like
Research and Development or Brand management could be maintained under a centralized
system. Local cooperation and strategic partnerships and alliances are also known to lead to the
enhancement of competitive competence through access to local information, markets as well as
7
distribution channels. Of course, one has to spend money on personnel recruitment in order to
have a powerful presence on the local market, and to have a culturally compatible employees
who would intensify creativity and efficient work. This is evident in the views that technological
advancement such as digital, platforms and data analytics makes invaluable contributions to the
growth of capabilities when it unfolds real time market update and global operation. They also
have to be as open as possible to adapt to the new circumstances in the worldwide market, new
rules, and possibilities. This flexibility involves being able to deal with change, but also to seek
out change and prepare for such inevitabilities as are bound to happen in the market place.
Cooperation in the creation and consolidation of competitive advantages in various
regions can be a tool for the sustainable development of enterprises and their adaptation to
negative external influences, gaining a dominant position in the worldwide market. This strategy
is directed at enhancing the firm’s understanding of the local culture and the clients, an important
factor in the current world to maintain competitive advantage. The development of the coherent
competitive capabilities to be implemented across multiple locations requires a combination of
the global controlling and subsidiary local adjustments, which enables the development of the
global advantages and local improvements within the global market.
II. Trends in globalization and technology: Issues for consideration
Growth in the number of multinational companies across the world
The expansion of the number of MNCs in the world is one of the evidences observed in
the international business environment as a result of better technologies for business, reduction
of barriers to trade, and in search of markets. Through these global players that are already
present in many countries, the expansion and deepening of cross-border relations involving
products and services, capital, and knowledge are set to be set by the global players themselves.
8
Majority of such companies have aims and objectives, which include the expansion for increased
efficiency, a chance to experience economies of scale and the ability to capitalize on
opportunities within the market. For instance, an IT company from USA may open research
centers in India, production centers in China and marketing centers in Europe to reduce cost and
to get access to skilled employees and local markets. It assist the MNC to be able to market there
product to different customers base, respond to local demand and seek new avenues of operation
by partnering with organization from other countries. However, the increase in MNCs has some
implications as elaborated below: The ability to handle multiple legislation and political risks:
The complexity of legislation and political risks differ from one country to the other hence
challenging for MNCs. These organisations require fulfilling and maintaining various legal and
ethical standards in various countries. But this has the following advantages; the MNCs provide
employment to the people of the host country, technology transfer and plays a vital role in
initiating infrastructural development. Also, they are the agents of the diffusion of the various
business practices, business standards, business innovations within the arena of the global sphere
and they therefore shape the entire picture of the economic setting. This is well illustrated by the
expansion of MNCs due to globalization and the current global economy, this alone show that
there is need for proper international management, so that firms can harness most of the benefits
of the global economy with minimal effects of the vices of globalization.
Challenges emerging from technology improvements in communication and collaboration
Improvements in information processing and sharing technology have improved
operations in organizations by changing the way people conduct work and business, but this
invention has as well brought about new set of problems which firms have to overcome in order
to remain relevant in the market place. Videophoning, instant messaging, and other similar
9
online communications have increased the ability of teams to collaborate remotely in real time
The software platforms also enhance the real time teamwork between different groups. The
technologies such as this have a very significant role to play in improving the flow of
information within an organization, fast decision making and can provide means to access talent
globally and thus increase effectiveness and efficiency. Nevertheless, the increasing rate of
technological developments is characterized by the following challenges, as espoused below.
There is also the issue of digital divide which is the variation in the availability of new higher
end technologies that are used in communication and can cause inequalities in and between
organizations. besides there are certain limitation related to the use of digital communication; it
leads to information overload for instance where there are many messages and data are presented
to the employees, productivity reduces and pressure is placed on the employees to
work. The other most critical strategic implementation question is the security of data and their
protection resulting from the increased usage of information technology and communication
equipment. It is further required that managers recommend enough budgets so as to ensure better
cybersecurity and also design policies on proper security measures.
In addition, there might be shifts in the way emails are being used as a mode of
communication and the organisational relation and culture this may alter. The limited social
contacts result in social isolation and poor interpersonal relations which are essential in defining
howeffective a team will be in order to accomplish its set objectives. There is the need to make
use of the right approach that can enable organizations to leverage on the benefits that come with
the use of technologies in communication without necessarily suffering from the vices that
accompany the use of such technologies. As part of this process, it also involves introducting its
employees to the various technological tools it is employing, ensuring that they promote healthy
10
work and personal life balance among its employees, and policy formulation that addresses
issues of safety and equity in use of technology.
Workforce diversity and virtual teams as an extension of the workforce
The modern trends such as the increase in the importance of the concept of the workforce
diversity and the use of virtual teams as the part of the workforce have certain advantages and
disadvantages in the contemporary world of the business. Workforce diversity comprises of
culture, ethnical, gender, and generation differences within the employee population. It is for this
reason that the management of diversity in organizations can result in several advantages
including: First, there is the creativity that results from the many diverse ideas and angles that are
presented in the working environment (Hunt et al., 2015). Compellingly, diverse teams are better
placed to identify and serve a large population of customers and this enhances innovation and
competition in global markets. It also needs to be understood that a diverse workforce poses
certain challenges, such as cultural differences, language barriers, or the lack of tolerance
towards discriminated minorities that might be encountered in certain countries. At the same
time, the growth of virtual teams due to improvements in communication technology enables an
organization to engage in a talent pool from all over the world and not necessarily be restricted
geographically. It should be noted that virtual teams are more flexible, cost effective in terms of
not requiring physical office space, and allow work to continue 24/7 due to different time zones.
However, virtual teams have their impediments like building team cohesiveness, working with
time differences, and issuing of appropriate and efficient communication. Since working
remotely, people spend more time in a virtual environment and not in direct physical contact,
which means that trust and collaboration require more effort and focus. The companies need to
offer proper support and training for virtual teamwork, in particular in using the relevant
11
technologies, and need to establish measures to ensure virtual team members do not feel isolated
or excluded. Therefore, the acknowledgement of the workforce diversity and the proper
management of virtual teams allows to organize a more extensive pool of talents and viewpoints,
leading to more successful innovative solutions in the context of the modern rapidly developing
global economy.
III. Adjusting to Cultural Sensitivity and Taste
Appreciation of culture and communication etiquette
Communication across culture and apprecation of the culture and protocol is very crucial
in the current business environment since most of the business dealings involve different
cultures. The first and probably the most important aspect is the consideration of cultural
difference in relations to communication, conduct, and business dealings. Scholars indicate
that cultural diplomacy is a measure of the degree to which a person is knowledgeable about
norms, attitudes, and practices that determine the way people in different cultures think or
behave in relation to communication. For instance, Hall has noted that high-context culture is
evident in Japan and China, where most of the information communicated is done in an indirect
manner, and the general context provides the details while, on the other hand, low-context
cultures are seen in United States and Germany where the message is likely to be conveyed in an
explicit manner. It leads to conflicts and lessens trust because cultural differences should not be
overlooked. However politeness or the proper way of addressing people, how to greet, which
part of the body to use in sign language and how to refer to a person is very crucial in creating
respect and trusting relationship. Compared to other cultures, it is possible to note that some do
not care if they have to use all the official ranks and last names as a sign of politeness. Therefore,
proclivity or lack of it in the use of gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, personal space,
12
posture, and other forms of nonverbal communication also vary from one culture to another, and
can affect the outcome of the communication process. For instance, touching the face is
permitted in some cultures, whereas it is considered proper in some cultures namely the Mexican
cultures. To improve the clients’ awareness of culture and communication mannerisms, it is
important that cultural competence training be provided to the organisations and those, so that
they can handle it in the most effective manner. Thus, to appreciate and implement various
methods of communication as well as etiquette while interacting with societies of the world,
business will be well placed to cultivate good relations with the international peers, customers
and associates thereby enhancing its global operations and outcomes.
Segmenting the message to fit the needs of certain audience segments
The use of the technique of adjusting the message to the receiver’s needs is one of the
most straightforward and elementary but still effective for communication and marketing
strategies. This approach refers to the process of information delivery that is custom-made to
reach out specific segment audiences in the society with the view of making the information sent
to fit the needs or characteristics of the target groups in order to ensure that the information sent
is likely to serve the purpose for which it was sent. The purpose of the audience segmentation is
demographic, psychographic, geographical and behavioral. For instance, a firm with a new
product launches a series of ads about the new product; the ads targeting the young people will
focus on the new features while those targeting the elder people will focus on the reliability of
the product. The interpretation of ‘bursting the message’ is that the actual message can be
tailored and presented in a manner that would be most suitable and appealing to each segment in
a more pointed and personal way. This specific strategy can be helpful in trying to overcome
issues like language, culture or knowledge differences. For instance, while some pieces of
13
information may be generalised to the extent that they would be understandable to a lay
audience, they may be laden with specialized language that would appeal to a particular
profession.
The hiring of focus groups, survey, data analysis is advantageous to the organization as
this goes along with a realization of what the segment is interested in and how they behave hence
coming up with the paramount message. Further, the application of the communication
technology in the process helps in defining who needs to be informed at any particular time or
what information to give to him or her. When done correctly, such a function of a message can
be beneficial to the businesses as well as the communicators to enhance their relationship with
the intended audience as well as the overall goal of the entire communication process, which is
to engage and convert. It does not only improves the communication strategy but also provides a
positive verification of the organisation’s recognition of the various needs and wants of the
various groups in the target audience.
Building cross-cultural skills for successful communication and interaction
The formulation of cross cultural skills in communication and interpersonal affairs is a
vital ingredient in the current global village refers to the interaction between individuals or
groups of different cultures. ICC and related competencies consist of the cognitive, affective and
psychomotor domain to understand and value cultural differences in communication and
behaviour. Cultural competence is the first step in the acquisition of these skills; this is a state
where one is able to recognize his or her cultural biases and being able to comprehend how
cultural issues affect the individual’s worldview and behavior. For instance, through cultural
competence training one may be informed and empowered with knowledge on how people from
other cultures, their perception and their approach to communication and may enhance their
14
manner of handling cross cultural relations. The most important factor associated with the
process of cross cultural competencies is the development of the skill of perceiving and
accepting other people and things. It is a component enhances comprehension and the capacity to
predict the position of the other party, which in turn facilitates the attainment of improved
communication. Derived from the mindset that is willing to accept different forms of culture and
be prepared to practice the kind of culture that is applicable rather than imposing one’s own.
Another critical domain of learning is the psychomotor domain, which plays a significant
role in crossing cultural barriers through language, listening, and gesture. The author also said
that even if one is to learn few words or phrases in the other language or even learning a new
language helps in easing on the communication or even as a way of showing respect to the other
culture. This is very vital in eradicating most of the misunderstanding cases and building trust
with the speaker since the process of active listening involves among others; attending to the
speaker, understanding the information being conveyed and finally responding appropriately.
This is also a part of the cross cultural competence since paralanguage is culture specific and
includes, for example, tone, pitch, facial expressions and gestures. According to it, by cultivating
these skills, both individuals and organizations will be able to increase the capability of
exchanging the information and communicating with other people in the multicultural
environment which, in turn, will increase the chances of successful cooperation and, therefore,
strengthen relations while contributing to the enhancement of the success of various international
activities.
15
IV. Challenges and Opportunities of using Artificial Intelligence and Translation
Technologies
Translating language and interpretation procedures and making them automated
It is noteworthy that the procedures concerning language translation and interpretation
are deemed to be paramount in mitigating barriers in communication across languages and
cultures since the automation of these procedures is regarded as an innovation. Most of these
technology platforms utilize translation with help of a machine and AI to translate texts and
speech in real time if needed for various fields like business, travelling, education, and
diplomacy. The most frequently used tools for translation are Google Translate and DeepL with
good algorithms and vast amounts of data for providing accurate translations into different
languages. Moreover, it can be stated that such technologies and devices for simultaneous speech
interpreting allow people to speak right now, which is effective in cases of multilingual
conferences and meetings. The integration of neural networks with deep learning has added more
richness to these systems and makes the translation more natural and fluent. However, the
drawbacks still persist and they are hampering the effort of achieving zero error rate especially
on the usage of idioms, proverbs and cultural sensitivity, jargons. These are some of the
challenges that are perhaps possible to face while using AI models, there is the need to update
the AI models and train them with new datasets.
Furthermore, because use of automated translation services implies handling personal
data, questions of data protection and confidentiality arise and are accentuated even more so
because of the possibility of passing such information through the systems. Combat such
challenges requires the developers have to make sure that their applications have a good
encryption system and that users can work on them safely. The availability of automated
16
translation is not limited to a communication aspect; it is also referring to e-shopping, customer
relations, and content delivery, expanding the company’s customer base and enhancing the
customers’ experience. Consequently, through the application of making language translation
and interpretation procedures more automatic, organizations are able to eradicate language
barriers; boost cultural and international relations and improve communication links between
different countries that in turn results to globalization.
Adopting the use of artificial intelligence-based virtual assistants and chatbots
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) mostly in virtual assistants and chatbots that
is now transforming how customer services are being provided, how businesses are being run
and how productivity is increased. These tools are based on AI and therefore encompass natural
language interface where the user can interact with the system that responds immediately capable
of performing multiple tasks. iPhones have the digital aiding tool, Siri; Amazon and Google also
have their digital aiding tool, Alexa and Assistant respectively, which help people manage their
everyday activities, scheduling, texting and smart home control. This is also applied to attend to
customer complaints, facilitate the sale and delivery of products and services, as well as boost
the efficiency and effectiveness of a business. For example, large organizations including
Amazon and IBM employ progressive and efficient chatbots to perform client service errands,
reducing response time and costs. It also goes on to argue that the majority of these AI systems
can be trained are and can therefore be made better through using machine learning algorithms.
In addition, corporations utilize AI-driven virtual assistant programs that are part of the
enterprise system to assist employees within the company and in relation to meetings, reports, or
the work flow, in general. The integration not only enhances production throughput, but it also
reassigns human personnel to perform higher value-added tasks, but the advancement of these
17
technologies also have negative impacts for example privacy and security of AI Personal
Assistants and chatbots and the problem of loss of job due to automation. Still, the question
appears as to what actions are reasonable to pursue when such decisions have been made by the
artificial intelligence and what ethical concerns should then be considered. However, there are
some risks in the business using such virtual assistants and chatbots including handling the rise
in organizational productivity, improved clients’ relations, as well as the capacity to provide
personalized solutions on a large scale. These are technologies that are only going to increase the
relevance in people’s lives in the years to come, and in lives, both personal as well as
professional, they are set to become the push factors for change as well as efficiency
enhancements.
Improving the openness and the integration of the people across the countries
Creating possibilities for people’s contacts at a level above the mere physical-cultural
level and their inclusion into other societies is one of the paramount tasks in the creation of trust,
cooperation, and cultural interchange between states. In this respect, people are to come up with
certain standards, which otherwise would be members of the globalized communities to accept
each other and understand each other. The education sector and culture constitute a very
important area of cross-border exchange as well as the reciprocal relations that can play a vital
role in the process. The schools and governments of many countries are developing programs
that can let the learners and the working personnel study, train and work in other countries which
will make them gain an international look at things and be more exposed to the international
environment. Further there are possibilities to use Information and communication technologies
including Social networks, virtual collaboration and learning tools that enable persons to work
and learn at the same place in real time regardless their cultural background. This in turn help in
18
the dismantling of the geographical barrier and help the feeling of a global village to be
enhanced. However, there are certain matters to address in connection with integration process.
These are but the many obstacles to openness: fear of outsiders; prejudice, both in its
prejudgment and racial form; and lastly, the disparity in how people live. There should be
policies that create equality, human rights, and help groups or individuals who are in difficulties.
The governments including organizations must also work hard to continue looking for
opportunities to make everyone embrace globalization and share the success opportunities of the
new global order. However, there is need for the community to embark on setting goals and
ensuring that the community gains an understanding of the need to appreciate cultural diversity
together with ensuring that measures that can be taken to reduce prejudice are honored. The
political leaders require the people of the other countries and societies to open and integrate in
order to promote the best human resource available in the society for improvement of innovation
and overall transformation of economy and social needs. In this way, the people’s existence is
not only protected and enriched, but society and the entire world becomes a global one where
there are no contradictions and ignorance, no conflicts and lack of understanding, but
cooperation and mutual understanding prevail.
V. Promoting Inclusive and Culturally Wise Organizations
Diversity and cultural sensitivity as key elements in the organization
The cultural sensitivity and culture intelligence are always still important aspects within
contemporary organisations because of the impact on innovation, better decision making and
organisational culture. Diversity management may be referred to as the uptake of race and ethnic
differences, gender and age, faiths and preferences, and other characteristics in the employee
pool. Therefore, organisations that support diversity should be open in a way that they allow for
19
a number of approaches and concepts to be introduced to the organisation before they are
enforced through business strategies. The study carried out by Page (2007) pointed out that
diversity helps in performance more than the other teams with identical members since they have
unique view and background. While cultural awareness may be described as the extent to which
a person perceives the presence of other culture and the manner in which such affect practice in a
given organization, cultural sensitivity relates to willingness to respect other culture and being
conscious of how such may interfere with business relations and practice in the organization. It is
always very essential to prevent any additional misunderstanding of the messages sent and to
ensure that every worker will perceive the organization as inclusive of them. Cultural awareness
training is supposed to help several staff to learn how they may feel about people of other
cultures, and how they may be more supportive to culturally diverse co-workers. Many have
noted that cultural factors are a part of the management of organizations, and when incorporated
in the management of the company prepares organizations for international management
challenges, to build trust in the global customers, and ensures better interpersonal relationships.
To this extent, organisations do not only reduce themselves from legal and ethical vices
associated with diversity and cultural insensitivity but also meet organisational diversity
requirements through recruiting and retaining the best talent base from the diverse market
resulting to better organisational performance and image.
The cross-cultural training and development programs
The internationalization of management training and development is very significant
when it comes to preparing learners for tasks in the globalized business environment. The said
programs are meant for the specific goal of assisting those persons who shall be working in
organizations that are multicultural in nature, in how to be well equipped to deal with people of
20
diverse cultural background and relate well with fellow employees or consumers. The cross
cultural training program usually entails cultural respect, language, conflict escalation and other
behaviors that are acceptable in certain cultures. It always reveals that, through such programs,
the employees achieve a chance to improve the recognition of different cultures and this aids in
the reduction of cultural restrictions that may affect the cooperation. For instance, the business
with participants from Asian countries might preferred to approach hierarchically in business
contacts hence an employee with this knowledge will ensure that communication with the
business partners is properly polite and formal. Cross cultural training is also essential since it
may help to establish the versatility of the employees due to the fact that they require to alter
their behavior patterns and communication approach depending on the culture they are in. It is
most useful when used on expatriates and anybody who will partake in an international
assignment in order for them to excel in the new environment. There is also the aspect of concern
that organizations that offer cross cultural training demonstrate their concerns in diversity and
equal opportunities in workplaces which is always welcome and should increase the outing pool
of applicants to the organization. Always, it must be a step-by-step process of cross cultural
training and development that would have a positive impact on the organisation and can increase
the probability of success in the international market, increase organisational diversity, and
facilitate communication among people of different cultures to ensure efficiency in their
interaction.
Creating a positive workplace environment of respect and diversity
Below are some of the why it is essential for organizations to strive to adopt and develop
the workplace environment to be inclusive of the following; Today it is a legal requirement to
embrace diversity in the workplace setting as an organization. Superiority for the workplace
21
culture is not only about extending the coverage to more people, it also means there is a world of
possibilities in solving problems by letting people with different angles and thinking into it. To
achieve such an environment the organizations should have good and strong policies that seek to
address equal treatment of all employees. This includes possessing correct anti-discrimination
plans at the workplace, making certain that all workers are given equivalent opportunities of
acquiring promotions and promotions and demonstrating respect for all individuals regardless of
their roots. As for the third principle, leadership is another essential aspect, which has the right to
arrange and establish an example of the climate that is suitable for being used. There is an
imperative need to promote diversity and inclusion in workplaces especially by managers and
supervisors; for example, by implementing support structures such as employee networks,
diversity training programs, and recruitment practices. The case of positive communication
where the employees can express a number of perspectives regarding matters that concern them
can assist in developing the feeling of affiliation among workers and enhance cohesiveness
among the teams. Workers can also be taught on how to deal with cultural sensitivity and
prejudice so that they would be able to recognize instances of racism and discrimination within
themselves that would improve value for diversity and equality in workplaces. An opportunity
will be giving to ensure that the staff can become friendly and engage in the team-building
activities and social activities will enhance interaction and build a united staff within the
corporation. Other measures that could be embraced in trying to solve the issue of perception of
cultural differences could also involve embracing cultural events in order to celebrate or embrace
the different cultures. It is only through respect for diversity as one of the values that
organizations can create a healthy climate in organizations where the health of people and their
motivation will improve and result in the achievement of the best business results. It fosters a

climate where every person feels that he is wanted and capable of delivering his best towards the
overall elaborate goal of the business and those working in it.
Conclusion
Intercultural business communication in a more integrated world thus poses certain
questions and these are questions of direction depending on certain factors which in turn define
its future. In this case there is a need to understand the behaviour of the cross cultural consumers
in the foreign markets, which will go along way in facilitating effective inter-cultural
communication as well as competing effectively in different places in the world. Consequently,
the expansion of MNCs, and the issues arising from that, including globalization and
advancements in technology which influences negotiations, communication, and cooperation,
necessitate the higher intercultural communication practices. Such worries are compounded by
newer forms of organizing work through globalization and the creation of virtual work teams;
thus, cross cultural communication must be encouraged as a means of fostering organizational
culture and efficiency. Aculturation remains the most crucial approach to intercultural
communication. This entails being able to appreciate cultures other than yours, the kind of
culture that is in existence, how to address people from different cultures, how to package the
message according to the different parts of the culture and the ability to handle with the culture
barriers. As with any technology, AI and tools for translation include both benefits than can be
accompanied by threats. Incorporating the use of digital technology in translating and
interpreting languages, applying artificial intelligence in the use of virtual assistants and
chatbots, enhancing the process of globalization and integration among the population are
proposals that will also go a long way in boosting the process of intercultural communication.
These are the cultures that are wise and inclusive in the current landscape of the global world,

therefore, if social and cultural diversity is considered as the main aspects of the organizational
culture, if cross-skill crew has been trained sufficiently, and if management and personnel have
positive views on diversity and cultural sensitivity as essential components of intercultural
communication, the communication will be successful. As globalisation continues to be a key
area of concern for business as they undergo future changes, there is likelihood that the effects of
cross cultural communication shall continues to increase. This broad perspective allows the
managers to focus more on the opportunities that are available in the global market and how
these opportunities can be grown; it also enables the businesses to function within the global
environment by being aware of the cultural differences that exist and how this can be used in
communication.
