Negotiation Discussion Two
Explore the strategy and tactics of integrative negotiation: Integrative bargaining is a
negotiation plan in which involved parties coordinate to determine a "win-win" remedy to their
conflict (Park et al., 2019). The negotiation strategy concentrates on attaining mutually beneficial
consents based on the litigants' interests, including fears, concerns, desires, and needs. The first
step in using integrative negotiation effectively involves outlining the needs of individual parties.
It is critical for each side to discuss or reveal their desires, particularly what prompted them to
seek negotiation. The first step towards finding common goals is identifying what each party
needs and wants. Discussing the goals of each party also helps the mediator or other negotiators
to understand the alignment of some of their interests. Besides, shared goals inform the next step
of brainstorming different remedies (Indeed Editorial Team, 2020). The best approach is asking
individuals to list their preferred solutions and finding ones that match or would benefit both
sides. It is imperative to consider the other party and their well-being while selecting possible
solutions. The first integrative negotiation technique involves bridging solutions. Both sides
establish new ideas to support rather than the ones they presented first. Both parties start by
listing their wants and needs before each one contemplates ideas that serve them collectively.
Logrolling is another integrative negotiation technique in which partners exchange highly
favorable outcomes when the conflict attracts several issues (Indeed Editorial Team, 2020). For
instance, they might agree to serve the particular needs of one party first and continue alternating
until all underlying problems are addressed. Equal compromising is another integrative
negotiation technique in which parties give up something equally and fairly compromise to yield
a remedy.

Evaluate the key factors that facilitate successful integrative negotiation: Every party
in integrative negotiation hopes the process to be successful. However, for that to happen, they
must consider different factors. The first one is a mutual understanding of the process and the
potential outcomes. Besides, parties must seek integrative negotiation when they are ready to
work together towards finding a common solution (Chapman et al., 2017). Trust is another
critical factor in a successful negotiation. The parties must believe in each other's eagerness to
find a binding remedy to the conflict. Parties that do not trust each other cannot participate in
integrative negotiation. Their differences make it challenging to work collectively towards
success. In addition, successful integrative negotiation on the parties' commitment and
motivation to collaborate. They must be pushed by something to seek an intervention that yields
mutual benefits. Other factors, including faith in one's potential to address issues and belief in the
importance and validity of the other's positions, are critical in having a successful integrative
negotiation. I would only participate in integrative negotiation with a person, or party I trust will
serve my best interests. That way, it would be easier to reach a mutual agreement.
Consider the importance of setting goals for an upcoming negotiation: Goals are
critical in every negotiation. They reveal what parties intend to achieve at the end of the process.
Goals should act as the blueprint of the upcoming negotiation. I like to plan my every move.
Short-term goals help me to measure my progress towards attaining long-term goals. Parties
must share and discuss goals thoroughly to reach viable consent in negotiation.
