Stakeholder Influence at Wayfair
In the past 12 months, a significant stakeholder group for Wayfair has been its
employees. From Exhibit 1B, employees' personal needs include the need for employment,
wages/salary, and physical needs. A manifestation of their work happened in late 2023. This
period saw employees complaining about safety while at the workplace and equally poor
remuneration resulting from increased work rate occasioned by higher orders from online
shopping (Bridoux & Stoelhorst, 2022). They reported through letters within their workplaces
and speaking publicly to demand their needs for stringent health measures and the doubling of
hazard pay. Hence, to address the developments in health and safety conduct, Wayfair improved
its health and safety measures, extended the cleanliness routine, supplied the frontline warehouse
participants with protection gear, and offered them increased wages for the risk period (Bridoux
& Stoelhorst, 2022). He used it to show how employees of Wayfair established the mechanism
through which the business organization was Pratt, Lyon, molding to accommodate their needs
and welfare.
Due to this pressure from the workers, several changes were seen at Wayfair. First, the
organization expanded its adherence to health and safety measures, such as frequent cleaning of
offices and availing of personal protective equipment. Furthermore, they devised a temporary
hazard pay policy that would pay frontline warehouse employees more due to the increased risks
they were exposed to. The two change strategies were implemented based on team member
relations and the need for motivated, healthy, and safe employees (Bridoux & Stoelhorst, 2022).
This instance shows how employees of Wayfair, as one of the significant stakeholders, impacted
its premise by organizing themselves to alter conditions favorable to them. The company shook
the belief that employees’ welfare or satisfaction is paramount for the success of a business

assembling line, not least during crises. Wayfair responded to here-and-now safety issues and
reminded itself of its workforce through this action.
The company’s decision to fire the employees and, in the same breath, respond to the
demands of employees who were calling on the company to take enhanced health measures, as
well as offer hazard pay to its employees, shows how employees are active stakeholders and are
involved in the decision-making process (Bridoux & Stoelhorst, 2022). Thus, by paying attention
to the enterprise’s employees’ concerns and responding to them, Wayfair proves it is keen on
preserving a safe organizational climate. Undoubtedly, this form of working implements a
motivated and loyal force, ultimately benefiting the company.
