I used to love eating sugary things, such as cookies and cakes and anything else really, but as I
got older and started to realize just how bad it is for my health, I started cutting down, and I
noticed a big difference in how I felt. My skin got much better, I would not experience
stomachaches anymore, cutting down made me feel much better overall despite how hard it
was since my body was used to sugars. I still eat all those sugars every now and then but I do
not enjoy consuming as much sweetness as I used to. I think eating unhealthy food that satisfies
our cravings is not too bad as long as we are consuming it moderately and not too often, this
allows our metabolism to function properly and not be in shock.
It is truly upsetting to see how much our government cares more about profiting from the food
industry instead of the health of its people. All those big corporations that everyone in the
world seems to support by feeding on and drinking their products is only causing its customers
to develop health issues such as, as mentioned in the article, diabetes, chronic illnesses, and
heart disease. People are not underweight anymore due to the amount of sugar that is
contained in those products, for example, soda. They are not getting the appropriate nutrients
that they need for healthy growth anymore. People now are obese but undernourished. As the
article mentioned, the reason behind obesity is not only based on processed food, there are
other factors such as one’s genetics, the amount of income they grew up with, as well as
urbanization. Preventing hunger should be a reason for those big food companies to sell poor-
quality food, they are causing people more harm than good. They are leading them to develop
long-term diseases that will impact them negatively along with the many generations that are to
come.
