Kate Chopin Book summary

 Kate Chopin was born with the name Katherine O'Flaherty on February 8, 1850, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born to an Irish father and a French mother, who had a great influence on her way of thinking. She married the man she loved, Oscar Chopin, in 1870, and the couple moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where Oscar worked in the cotton trade. They had six children together, but their marital bliss was short-lived as Oscar contracted Malaria and passes away in 1879.

Kate was relatively young at the time of her husband's death, but she never chose to remarry. She wrote several short stories and books that received a certain amount of recognition, but she did not gain any significant amount of fame or wealth. It was only after her death that her work began to be recognized for its genius. Kate's French way of thinking had led her to create a lot of stories with very strong feminist ideals that were not recognized during her own time but resonated with the audience of the twentieth century.
