Writing Assignment #2 Tips

Copy

· Keep in mind length – you need to be sure you’re explaining the program but don’t want to flood with too much detail

· Think specifically about each of the three audiences – what information will pique their interest and be important to them?

· Tone should also be custom – talking to a parent is different than talking to a student or a coach. But, remember, it is all for the same trainer and program so it should all make sense together.

· Include a call to action – what do you want them to do?

If you choose to try a design layout for extra credit:

· Find a good template to use (especially if you do not have experience with graphic design). There are great, free sites like Canva that are easy to learn that make it simple for you to create a well-designed piece with minimal effort.

· Photo choice is important – the photo (just like the copy) should be of interest to that audience. Imagery should work with your copy.

· Make sure to use similar colors/fonts throughout the three pieces so there is some consistency – this is the same training program after all.

· Keep font choices under control – stick to one or two (or fonts within the same family that “go together”).

· When in doubt, simplify! Less design is better than messy design.

· Make sure to save as a pdf to upload and submit to Canvas for grading.
