Entity Comparison Presentation
There are a varies of entities involved regarding Assisted Living facilities. As we begin to move forward on each slide this is information that will support you longer in the future. There are many organizations that have made a major impact when it concerns the community with elderly and disabled adults that has counsel them in long term care settings. For example, the assisted living is for an independent person with health challenges that still is capable of their daily activities with the help of medical assistance. It is also more of an exclusive monitoring when there in a nursing home, and medication is being distribute with the doctor’s care. The focus is to inform you of what you need to beware of when it concerns the type of long-term care delivery. There are legal differences, services extended, exactly what the credentials, and accreditations consist of, the commission to responding to each process regarding how to handle the reviewing of the reports. This material is helpful because you have situations that have taken place and with this knowledge being shared it can make a difference in decisions.
Differences and Services Offered
The difference between assisted living communities and nursing homes from a legal aspect regarding the required services that are offered can be like one another. Assisted living facilities require custodial care which is care that for activities that are safe and reasonable provided by personnel who are not licensed medical professionals. If a resident has a mobility problem and is medically authorized to move from point A to point B, assisted living communities are required to assist with transferring the resident. These facilities require nurses who can legally and medically assist with health care services which can include injections, IV’s, and prescribed treatments. They also require assistance in providing medications to the residents that are supposed to take meds at certain times. Nursing homes have more services that are legally required. Nursing homes are facilities for those who are fully dependent on assistance from others. Round the clock care is required because there are patients that need to be supervisions round the clock. Round the clock monitoring is also required because the patient’s health can change at any moment from better to worse or worse to better. These facilities require a full nursing staff to watch on all the residents they care for. A full examination and assessment is required because there is written documentation on how a resident is when they arrived and any improvements or setbacks that may have happened. These facilities are required to assure that the proper care and treatment of care are provided to assist these patients and head back to a better form of health. With that being mentioned, assuring that residents are free from medical errors is crucial.
Assisted living facilities offer social activities for their individuals that reside in their facility, medication passes, light assistance with daily activities of living such as washing clothes, meal preparation, cleaning, and monitoring the resident. Assisted living also pass medications and has a nurse on duty to do so. Most residents that are in assisted living facilities are still slightly independent if not completely independent. Their recreational activities are not limited to the facility but however they can shop, go to movies, dinner, and other places that are outside of the grounds of the facility but still supervised. (Seniorcare.org, 2018) Assisted living services such as assisting with baths and washing the resident’s clothes is offered because the resident requires supervised assistance. The facility hires care aides to make sure this service is rendered. Educational activities are enforced to keep the mind of the resident going and in tip top shape. Educational call systems is another form of assistance for the resident in case they are not able to reach out for help but can press a call button in order to seek services in emergency situations. These services are offered as a source of assistance for the resident and to help them to still have a form of independence.
Certification and Accreditation
Certification is confirmations that an organization has the characteristics, status or level of care they are equipped to give to individuals. The facility will have staff with certifications to show they can accommodate what the facility has to offer. To become certified a facility will have a review first of what they want to offer to patients and if they will have the appropriate staff to accommodate those needs so that quality of care is given, they will watch their staff performance and they will show that they will offer training, continued education and placement in other areas (The Joint Commission, 2018). To be certified by the Joint Commission a facility must go with three standard measures to meet the performance measurement requirements. The performance measurement (1) to make sure that adequate staffing to patients, (2) Hold all staff accountable for their professionalism and conduct. No staff should be acting inappropriately on the job and make sure they are performing their job with the upmost respect to patients and other staff, and address misconduct immediately if it happens, (3) making sure that all staff personal files are complete this means all their credentials to work in the facility, verification of certificate program completeness that are not state board licensed, their competency such as OSHA and HIPPA and other work history about them working in this field of care, health status, and background checks (The Joint Commission, 2018).

The focus is about to make individuals aware of the provided services that is extended in the assisting living and the nursing homes. The both facilities have some similar obligations that must meet the State and Government requirements. Overall, the share information is to assist you with matters such legal disputes when it involves, neglect, elderly abuse, and mistreating individuals. Understanding the process of how each area is address when it is certification, accreditation, and it is also expected in the hospitals. The surveys are design to determine were the growth is needed when it involves the multitude of the joint commission. We also have deposit some literature for you to explore and become more familiar with the entities and audits that take place in the facilities. . Their will be errors all the time, but to make sure it is not constantly we must be specific as to what has occurred. So with that, this information will be supportive for future deliberation.
