Will Electric Vehicles help tackle Climate Change?

Introduction Comment by Dr. Jo: Amber. I am returning this one for development as well. This needs to be 1000 to 1500 words. This is an argumentative essay where you take a position and develop your point of view. Please read the information in the touchstone.

Electric vehicles have been said to be an important part of meeting and beating climate change around the world. Climate change has been brought about by global warming which is the effect of greenhouse gases on the surface of the earth. The vehicles are said to be fast than internal combustion engines. The electric vehicles were developed to beat pollution and also meet some of the treaties developed to cut the emission of carbon and other greenhouse gases into the environment. The principal focus of this paper is looking at whether electric vehicles help tackle climate change. Comment by Dr. Jo: This is your thesis. You can narrow this to tell in what ways this tackles climate change. Look at how to narrow a thesis. Additionally, in an argumentative paper, you consider the counter argument. Another point of view – others may have. There is no need for electrical cars, for instance. Even though some people may not feel there is a need for electric cars, these vehicles can help tackle climate change by x,y, and z. In your paper towards the end, you present the other point of view briefly. One point. Maybe two. Then you refute it and give your most convincing argument for electric cars. Add a reflective section as well. Keep going.

Electric vehicles improve and contribute to clean air quality and uses eco-friendly materials. Electric vehicles run through renewable energy which is different from vehicles run by internal combustion engines. Through renewable energy, it is difficult for electric vehicles to pollute the environment via the exhauster. The fact that they use renewable energy as a source of energy instead of fossil fuel paves way for a clean environment free of pollution (Hans- Werner, 2019). Renewable sources of energy are clean and sufficient by the fact they cannot be exhausted like fossil fuels and the product is clean and clear of environmental pollutants plus it promotes the use of renewable sources of energy. In terms of eco-friendly the materials of most electric vehicles are made of materials that are quite environmentally friendly than most internal combustion engines that are made out of metals. For instance, the Ford Focus Electric is made of recycling materials while the lining is made out of biological materials. Another example is that of Nissan leaf interior and body is made out of green matter and recycled ones (Salman, 2019). These materials can be castoff whenever one needs to transform the interior. Electric vehicles are the best in tackling climate change.

These electric powered vehicles produced more pollution to the environment the same as the internal combustion engines. Despite being able to provide clean air quality, electric vehicles are said to produce more greenhouse gas during its manufacture unlike when being used (Dyer, 2017). The production of electric vehicle batteries produces more greenhouse gases than because battery production uses coal or fossil fuels. The other fact is countries that are still developing are still using coal and non-renewable energy which will make it difficult for clean air quality to be achieved as renewable energy sources are unavailable and the production is still low (Loeb, 2017). Electric vehicles perform well in countries such as French and Sweden where energy sources are entirely from renewable energy sources. The amount of carbon emissions that are produced during the manufacture of electric vehicles batteries is as high as driving internal combustion engines.

In conclusion, electric vehicles are cars that are powered by renewable energy and are environmentally friendly than an internal combustion engine. Electric vehicles will reduce air pollution and promote clean air to our neighborhoods. They also promote the use of renewable energy thus creating a clean and free of pollution environment. While all these are true, the production of electric vehicles' batteries leads to the emission of greenhouse gas because they use coal and fossil fuels in the reactors.
