TIPS SHEET
Below are tips that should help you through this course. This sheet should be like
a pocket guide to you for certain steps that you may forget when submitting
assignments. In other words, these are things you MUST know and do. You
should also be cautious that if you fail to follow the tips on this page, you will be
held accountable. Failure to use this sheet could result in a grade reduction or a
grade of a zero.
1. Always submit assignments using the Assignment link unless you are
specifically instructed to do otherwise.
2. Type every assignment as a Word document first unless you are specifically
instructed to do otherwise.
3. Save the Word document either to your hard drive or to a flash/jump drive or
disk. This is how you will simply upload the document later to the Assignment
link.
4. Never type an assignment in the Submission space on the Assignment page
unless you are specifically instructed to do otherwise.
5. Always double space your documents.
6. Always use Times New Roman type unless you are specifically instructed to
do otherwise.
7. Always use a 12 font unless you are specifically instructed to do otherwise.
8. Never center your response to a writing prompt unless you are instructed to do
so.
9. Ask someone to read your document before you submit it. After it is submitted,
I can only grade what you have submitted. If the assignment that you submit is
full of errors, your grade will reflect that.
10. Avoid getting a classmate in trouble because you will not do your own work.
For example, do not ask a classmate to see what they have written as a
response to an assignment just so you can copy it and submit it as your own
work. When that happens, both students will be dropped from
the class.
11. Follow instructions to the letter if you wish to receive good credit for an
assignment.
12. Do not wait until the last minute to submit an assignment. Rule of thumb:
technology is at its worst at the last minute.
13. An assignment that is due at 11:30 p.m. is late at 11:30:01 p.m. Canvas
will automatically mark it as late. Be cautious. I do not grade late
assignments.
