HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATION PROFILE 1
Final Project Part 1: Health Care Organization Project
Welcome to Intuitive Home Health. We are a home infusion company dedicated to providing quality in-home IV care. We are a community-based compounding specialty pharmacy and have locations in several cities in several states across the United States. We are all linked so your care at one location can follow you on your vacation and receive care at another location.
Our mission is to offer the highest quality home infusion care for our community with a vision of growing our company and expanding our market to include all specialty home infusion therapies while simultaneously striving to improve the quality of care for our patients.
While we are not a typical healthcare facility with rooms and beds for our patients, we do have an on-site infusion suite that we encourage our patients to use. It has several comfortable recliners where our patients can relax while receiving your infusion treatment. We also offer a small snack area, and small, private televisions chair-side and a gorgeous fish tank if you’d rather relax and watch our array of colorful fish just swim about.
We typically average around 20 patients per month that rotate through our on-site infusion suite and work the scheduling out so that you never need to be there at the same time as another patient, ensuring the utmost privacy for our patients. Overall, our facility averages approximately 650 active patients in total. Many patients are only with us for short therapies, but quite a few are on long-term or life-long therapies. Regardless of the reason our patients come to see us, we take the time to get to know each and every one so that we can provide the best possible care tailored as much as possible to that patient’s needs.
We offer the widest range in home infusion therapies including nutritional feeding, high risk pregnancy therapies, IV antibiotics, inotropic, DMD and immunotherapy treatments. We accept all state and local Medicare/Medicaid plans as well as all national payers such as Aetna, United HealthCare, Cigna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. With many of those payers we also hold contracts to provide the skilled nursing that goes hand-in-hand with almost every one of our provided therapies and those visits are conducted in the patient home, or in our on-site infusion suite. Many of our patients have private offices at their place of business and we will even accommodate our patients by going to their office if it is the most convenient manner for them.
Our quality indicators are based on patient satisfaction surveys, repeat patient business, word-of-mouth referrals, metrics gathered from hospital and stand-alone physician referral numbers; employee engagement and satisfaction surveys. Every quarter, employees nominate an employee that they feel exemplifies our mission and values and submits their names in to a drawing where selected employees will be awarded a bonus. Those employees will then be automatically entered into another pool where our senior management team will choose the best of the best and award them with another bonus, additional PTO and an all-expenses paid trip for themselves and one other to a beautiful vacation resort.
Our biggest human resource challenge is hiring and keeping quality employees to keep up with our anticipated expansion. Continuing education and training updates are another human resource issue we have to triage. All of our clinical personnel are required by state licensing to keep their certifications updated by participating in continuing education classes or online programs. We have a very diverse staff encompassing several different races and religions with a predominately female care team. Our clinical team is predominately male, but we have leadership roles filled by both genders. We also offer counseling tailored to religious preferences and a language line where we can call and have someone who speaks the preferred language of our patients so that they can understand their care without communication issues.
What makes us special is the services we offer that our competitors are unable to, such as our high-risk pregnancy program and several new specialized therapies that only our facility has been awarded the sole contract to provide.
Intuitive Health Care is the home health provider you can count on to provide quality in-home infusion services.
