MSM 6645 : Fundamental Concepts MBNQA Framework Criteria
How to do the discussion boards in MSM 6645
To receive full credit for a grade, a student must make a substantive, independent comment (minimum 300 words, with at least one reference and citation) and one additional substantive comment to something the instructor (me) submits—or to another student’s question or comments, and answering any questions posted to you. All responses count toward the (one) minimum response required as long as minimum requirements are met. Any response should be a bare minimum of 60 words, a small paragraph. A comment such as “I agree (or disagree)” or “what do you mean” or something similar (like ‘Nice post’) does not qualify. While it is nice to be supportive of others, postings that are purely supportive in nature will not be counted and anything off-topic will not be counted. Don't discuss the weather, your horoscope, or anything irrelevant to this class. Sorry, but we don't care. The primary post (response to the discussion question(s) is due by Wednesday; responses to others due by Friday.
The reflection post due every week by Saturday does not require a response to anyone; please entitle this 'Reflection' for identification purposes. This posting is for you to reflect on what you learned during the week from others, from the readings, and from any other sources relevant to the class relative to continuous improvement (not where to see a movie, sports event, share baseball stats or get decorating ideas from side conversations). Your reflection needs to include what you have learned that may be new or different and how this will impact your leadership style going forward - think about what you learned and how you can use this to improve everything/anything. I read every submission to the forums, and you should read at least the primary postings - I hope you read everything. If I see a submission similar to an “I agree” type of comment or anything off track, I will remove it, and the student will not receive any credit for it. Each of your comments must be presented as a professional would present it by substantiating it with evidence and critical thought. This means a reasonable paragraph related to the discussion topic – not off topic, short, or compromised in any way (one or two sentences simply will not do). Use a reference and a citation if appropriate in your reflection.
Scoring for the discussion boards includes 20 points for your primary post and your responses to others, and 10 points for your reflection post. The primary posting and responses will be in one thread in the weekly discussion, the reflection post will be a separate post, please be sure to LABEL is as 'reflection". Since this is an "all or nothing" discussion, if you do not meet the requirements for the primary post and responses, none of the 20 points will be awarded.
The reflective post is worth 10 points and while it is scored separately, both of these (total of 30) will be added together in the discussion column for the week. If any of this is unclear, please contact the instructor.
