Monopoly:
Rules of the Game
◼ Object of the game
◼ To become the wealthiest player through buying, renting, and selling property
◼ Break into groups of six players
◼ Once in your group, count off 1 to 6
◼ Select a token
◼ Select a banker
◼ Distribute money to each player according to their player number
◼ Use the grid on the last page for assigned amounts
◼ Begin with Player #1.

each player a majority or minority status
based on color
◼ Red players may only buy property from
Mediterranean Avenue (Brown) through
New York Avenue (Orange). Red players
may not buy red, yellow, green & blue
properties.
◼ Red players will only receive $150 each time
they pass “GO”

◼ The sex of each player is also indicated on the player grid
◼ Any woman rolling a “9” on the die loses the next 3 turns after advancing 9 spaces
◼ If she is on a property requiring rent, she must pay rent for each of the 3 lost turns
◼ If the property on which she lands is not owned, she may elect to buy it
◼ If she lands in jail, she must serve both terms—one for the jail, the other for pregnancy
◼ Women passing “GO” will receive $150 instead of $200
◼ If men draw any Chance card giving them money, they have “divorced.”
◼ They must pay child support to the bank in the amount of $25 every time they pass GO for the remainder of the game
◼ If they draw more than one chance card giving money, they must increase their child support to $50 every time they pass GO
