· Describe human resource plans and projection and describe the importance of human resource managers.

· Describe the challenges with recruiting volunteers and providing feedback to volunteers not recruited.

· What implications follow the use of a VCSM?

Hudson: Human resource services are extremely important in volunteer programs. They come into play greatly when it comes to various parts of volunteer programs such as recruiting and management of volunteer programs. The human resource services will help sort through volunteers and perform standard tasks like screening and training to ensure that the volunteers are ready for the task they are volunteering for and have the ability to help and be useful. They also work to address any issues that might occur to ensure that it is a well-functioning volunteer program that can perform it tasks to its greatest ability.  Human resource plans and projections are very important for these programs. The plans are important for making sure that the programs goals and missions are enforced and provide strategies for volunteers and plan for many things with the volunteers such as the training to take and how to retain some of the volunteers, it keeps everyone in the right place and puts them there in the first place. Projections are also important and encompass things such as the needs for the future and makes a prediction on what might be needed for the future and keeps the program moving and ready for what’s next. The human resource manager is vital when it comes to bringing in and keeping volunteers and ensures everything is done legally and there is a positive work environment. There are many challenges that will be faced when recruiting volunteers. Challenges will occur such as having limited resources and finding people who have the skills that are needed for the job at hand. When it comes to providing feedback, it is not always easy to do, there will be many challenges such as providing criticism in a constructive way and not in a degrading way, and there is a chance for people to react in a negative way and there would be a need for the human reaction to be handled. There are many implications that come when following a VCSM. You can see effects such as good communication and better retention of volunteers. There might also be implications such as negative user experience and issues and other challenges that could occur.

Johnathan: Human Resource Services are very important in volunteer programs. Firstly, human resource services establish many of the operational components of a non-profit organization. For example, human resource services often help with recruitment. Additionally, the human resources department will determine the hiring process and determine what information will be and will not be included in the application process. The Human Resource Department is further important due to them being responsible for establishing training and evaluation procedures within a nonprofit organization. Additionally, human resource departments within a nonprofit organization are immensely important because they can help determine the compensation and benefits within an organization if there are any.  

There are many challenges associated with recruiting volunteers such as recruitment being a time-consuming task, organizations constantly having to be on the offensive to recruit top talent, the hiring process is ongoing for volunteer organizations, and volunteer organizations are rarely funded by deep pockets. However, having excellent resource managers and human resource services can help with many of these challenges by providing some of the responsibilities and services mentioned above. Furthermore, an effective team of human resource managers and human resource services can help volunteers feel recognized and important thus increasing work performance and bolstering recruitment efforts for the organizations. These factors make Human Resource managers and Human Resource Services an imperative and critical part of an organization's success in multiple aspects from recruitment, work performance, and even determining an organization's budget. Furthermore, an effective Human Resources Department can also increase diversity in an organization solving the challenge of the cultural fit in the recruitment of volunteers.
