A class taught with technology enhancement Where will it take place and within what timeframe? At SMSU from January of this year to May of next year What are the requirements or any potential impediments? Requirements: Research on technology use in a mathematics classroom, write a syllabus for ED 424: Mathematics Methods and Assessment with technology enhancements, write lesson plans with technology enhancements, implement the technology enhanced lessons, and then evaluate the outcomes—teacher and student satisfaction and student achievement. What are the purposes for moving forward with these goals? Need to update courses at SMSU to meet the technology needs in the K-12 classroom.

Target evaluations-how you will know your project is effective: Evaluate effectiveness with comparison to classroom evals, teacher qualitative documentation & comparison of classroom scores for the past 5 years.
Slide 9		Ask yourself: Are the right people in place to make it happen? Yes, the professor is willing and the students are eager to learn more about math and technology. Can we get it done in the timeframe imposed? Yes, there is time to complete the entire project. Is there enough resources to make it happen? Yes, students have access to technology and apps in the tech labs. Are all on board and excited about moving forward, and if not, what can be done to make this happen? Yes, professor, students and SMSU is on board. What are the impediments, if any? Some apps may not be available via the SMSU tech lab.
Slide 10		Can the project be accomplished with the resources in place? Yes. Will the project lead to the desired result? Yes, if the right technology is implemented into the tech lab. Therefore, research into quality technology is key.

The goal of a project is like a target.

Determine where you want the project to end up. Goals are general starting places. Set your goals with their ends in mind by brainstorming what your project needs to end up looking like.

Plan action steps, next-steps, and how you can move from idea to that vision in the end, that specific objective.

Are the right people in place to make it happen? Yes, the professor is willing and the students are eager to learn more about math and technology.

Can we get it done in the timeframe imposed? Yes, there is time to complete the entire project.

Is there enough resources to make it happen? Yes, SMSU has an iPad cart; however, there are only 15 iPads. It would be nice to have SMARTboard software on the laptops and iPads so students could practice. Otherwise, Web 2.0 technology is freely available to students.

Are all on board and excited about moving forward, and if not, what can be done to make this happen? Yes, professor, students and SMSU is on board.

What are the impediments, if any? As noted previously, number of iPads and SMARTborad software access would enhance the project.

Writing Goals and Objectives

Goals and objectives will guide your entire research project. Your main objective for ED 622/SPED 625 is writing a literature review on your research project topic. However, I will ask that you present general goals and objectives for your overall project when you present your final literature review at the end of this course. These goals and objectives will be developed more in ED 624/SPED 626. This handout provides directions for writing goals and objectives and provides a sample project that I have developed.

Writing Goals and Objectives

As you read through this handout, you can start to complete the Goals and Objectives Planning Sheet that is posted in Class 2 content. You will add and revise these throughout the course as you continue to think about your project. However, I do ask that you provide possible goal/s and objective/s in your answers for Class 2.

This should provide adequate time for you to discuss your topic with others including your chair, read the research on your topic, and decide on a relevant project supported by your literature review. Consider this is a work in progress that will be on your mind throughout this course.
