The topic and element of children adoption is one that has existed for some time. In today’s world a mother and father figure is no longer the way to raise a child. I do believe that all marriages should have equal rights when it comes to adoption of children into safe homes or families. I feel very disappointed when I see gay parents are facing discrimination because of their sex orientation. The question here will be if it’s okay for same-sex couple to adopt kids?

This research that I found by Cody,Farr,McRoy, Ayers-Lopez, and Kathleen is a study that focus on the perspectives of youth who were adopted from the foster care system by lesbian and gay parents. The youth participate were being asked several questions about their lesbian or gay parents. It was very interesting to see their experience and point of view. According to the research children adopted by lesbian or gay parents can feel that they are more accepting of others, have more understanding of people, and are more compassionate toward people (Cody,Farr,McRoy, Ayers-Lopez & Kathleen,2017). We can see that there is a positive impact on the kids that are being adopted by lesbian and gay parents.

Another Research conducted by Gartrell, Peyser, and Bos, Paterson and Wainright, and Stacey and Biblarz all offer that there is no reliable scientific evidence that proves that lesbian or gay parents arrange their homes differently or are inept parents or that their children develop differently from those in heterosexual homes (as cited in Averett,Nalavany& Ryan,2009).This study is an evaluation of gay/lesbian and Heterosexual adoption. The authors point of view is the same as my. We both think that sexual orientation should not stop you from becoming a potential parent. Not everyone agree that gay should adopt kids. Within the realm of adoption, homonegative beliefs about sexual-minority parents may include that gay and lesbian persons are emotionally unstable, self-indulgent, and impulsive; are unable to form lasting relationships; and have a proclivity for child neglect/abuse (McCutcheon & Morrison). These beliefs here can cause people to question if gay and lesbian couple have the ability and suitability to parent.
