How to complete the course paper : Due at the end of the course: March 3rd, 2025. -- Choose a chapter that you found most interesting. Give a summary of the chapter. Apply the concept introduced in that chapter to a real-world event, current or historical. Below are steps that might be taken in completing your course paper: - You become interested in chapter X. - Focus on chapter X’s Key topics/idea/concepts. - Organize your notes on the key topics sequentially. - Find current or past literature that demonstrates how the key topics are factual/real. - Offer concluding remarks that may be subjective but supported by economic reasoning. - The essay should emphasize quality rather than quantity and should be at least 4 pages , not including bibliography nor the title page. Here are some microeconomics topics you might consider: · Concepts from Chapters 1 and 2: Why is the debate over drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge controversial? · Concepts from Chapters 1–3: What led to the 1973 oil crisis, and how did the United States respond to it? · Elasticity: How can firms strategically maximize total revenue by raising prices in some situations and lowering them in others? · Production and Cost: What strategies can firms use to avoid diminishing marginal returns? · Monopoly Market Structure: Should monopolies be regulated? Why or why not? · Oligopoly Market Structure: Do oligopolies function as cartels? Do they primarily compete, or do they collude? · Factor Markets: How has labor productivity in the U.S. changed over the past 20 years? · Market Failure: Identify a real-world example of an externality (positive or negative). How was it addressed or internalized? · International Trade: What does the slogan "America First" mean to you? Does it benefit or harm U.S. international trade? Once you have selected a topic, be sure to conduct a thorough Review of Literature on the subject: · Introduction and objective must be specific. · Follow APA guidelines: http://www.apa style.org/learn/tutorials/basics-tutorial.aspx · Analyze your topic with reference to the objective. · Offer a summary and conclusion. · References.
