With the increasing numbers of retiring baby boomers come concerns about the need to substantially increase government spending for Social Security and Medicare. This in turn creates disputes over the distribution of government resources.

Those who believe it is not just to put the burden of supporting the 65+ generation on the backs of younger generations or to allocate a larger proportion of government spending to the 65+ generation support the concept of generational equity.

Moody (1996) states that the problem of generational equity should be a “wake up call” for aging advocates and that more serious attention should be given to other strategies (p.213).

Write a 3-4 page paper on a strategy or perspective that could be taken to counter generational equity.
