Aside from the increase in juvenile crime and other issues facing the courts and court administrators today, the biggest issue is the current state of funding. Although funding has always been an issue in the court system, it has in the recent years become much of a catastrophe for administrators and courts overall ("The Impact Of Federal Budget Cuts On State And Local Public Safety", 2012). In recent years, grants given to different departments of the criminal justice system have been decreased by 43% ("The Impact Of Federal Budget Cuts On State And Local Public Safety", 2012). This is almost half of the funding needed for the courts to run effectively and efficiency. More than 72% of administrators in the criminal justice system report decreases in the federal budgets ("The Impact Of Federal Budget Cuts On State And Local Public Safety", 2012). Without the proper money, there becomes a lack of resources, and this can ultimately be detrimental to the court systems.

With the decrease in funding, the state and court systems are unable to provide enough funding for the need for patrol officers in the neighborhoods in each city ("The Impact Of Federal Budget Cuts On State And Local Public Safety", 2012). Different statistics on the numbers in prison and jails mean nothing if we are unable to have funding to pay people to serve and protect the city.
