Realism
Realist artists rejected the Romantic notion that art should be a representation of the world as the artist saw it (or felt it). Instead, they felt art should be an objective and unbiased view of the way the world is. Which view of art do you find yourself leaning toward AND WHY? Do you think art should be a reflection of the artist’s ideas, perspectives, and feelings? Or do you think it is an artist’s responsibility to remain objective and represent the world as it is? In responding, you might want to think of your favorite work of art. Which view does it more closely resemble? You should then try to use your favorite work of art as part of your defense/explanation for your position. Please respond in 200-250 words.
