Topic:  Female circumcision

Prepare a 1000-1250 word paper that explains your topic, including why it is controversial and/or requires critical thinking, and presents arguments for both sides of the issue, “pros” and “cons”, which will cause you to look at the issue from within the culture and from outside of the culture. 

Draw from you readings throughout the course to explain both positions. Concepts such as social cognition, social perception, conformity, obedience, collectivist cultures, individualistic cultures, values, schemas, among many others might be helpful in your discussion of your topic.   

Please use at least three sources.  One may the text book, your two additional sources must be from peer reviewed journals or you must seek instructor approval for other sources.

This is an assignment that calls on you to demonstrate critical thinking as well as application of the concepts learned in the course to a topic that might be of interest to a cross cultural psychologist.
