-must use peer-reviewed literature listed in the references

-summarize how and why other authors have addressed or failed to address this problems

        3) Research Question

-the research question should point to a problem/process/phenomenon that has not been covered in the literature, or I believe has been covered or answered incorrectly, insufficiently, or inadequately.

         4) Literature Review

-should show that I understand what experts in the field have written about the same or similar problem

-assess if and how well other authors covered the topic/problem.  Positive or negative

-criticism should point to deficiencies in authors’ claims, grounds, assumptions, warrants, backing, qualifiers, and rebuttals

          5) Research design/methodology

                -qualitative, quantitative, or mixed

-research design explication should be short (one paragraph is fine) and should point to a method I would use to investigate the problem in depth.

-emphasis is on the literature review!!!

           6) Thesis/proposition

-this is what I assume the status of the problem is

-develop a relationship between variable (independent/dependent…. Example : cause and effect), after I discover the deficiencies in the literature and policy/practice

-variables are key factors I want to determine and evaluate

                                -independent is often the cause

-dependent is the effect or outcome

         7) Analysis of the investigation

-contrast the findings with those in your literature review.

-how is the analysis and findings related to the research questions and the thesis?

-IF, WHY, and HOW the research…. Distilled in the thesis, supports or rejects the existing literature arguments?

-Does it answer the research question?

-does it confirm or refute the thesis?
