Note:  Some of you may not have supervised employees, if you have not think of a time when you have supervised volunteers or when you have had to work with an unproductive co-worker.  Either of these situations would be fine.

In your written assignment:

1. Describe a situation in which you had to deal with an unproductive employee.
2. What were the concrete issues?
3. What was your role in the situation? What was the employee's role? Was anyone else involved? What parts did they play?
4. Describe any emotional issues, personality factors, past history, etc. that might have made the situation more volatile.
5. Describe major "phases" of the situation.
6. What steps were taken in chronological order?
7. What was the end result? Was it satisfactory or unsatifactory? Give reasons for your answer.
8. As you reflect on this encounter, what helped it come to resolution? Was there anything that made the situation worse?
9. If you had it to do over again, what would you do differently and why
