1. The Chesapeake colonies quickly adopted a plantation system as the foundation of their economy. Forced labor became the vehicle from which these plantations were able to become profitable. Please describe the different forms of forced labor that were used in the Chesapeake plantation economies.  (Chapter 2)

2. The Puritans emigrated from England to flee an established church and religious persecution. Why did they then immediately establish their own church in Massachusetts and begin to persecute those who voiced opposition to the Puritan/Calvinist faith? (Chapter 2)
