Comparative Mythology
Read over the myths assigned for this week, and compare and contrast them. What similarities are there between them? What themes, issues, or symbols do we see arising consistently? And what is different between the myths? What do you suppose these similarities and differences might indicate or reveal about the fundamental worldviews of the originating cultures? What elements, if any, do you think are still relevant for consideration today? Make sure you use specific examples from the different myths. Feel free to bring in other creation myths that you are familiar with that weren’t in the assigned reading (as long as you explain a bit about them to the class, or provide a link to the text somewhere online).
