EDU 371: Phonics Based Reading & Decoding week 2 DQ 2

Read Chapters 7 and 8. Chapter 7 is entitled, “Onsets, Rimes, and Basic Phonic Patterns” (pp. 101-119) and Chapter 8 is entitled, “Teaching Advanced Word Patterns” (pp. 120-141). In addition, it is highly recommended that you read the following web articles from the Reading Rockets program:

In your discussion prompt, explain why it is important to teach word patterns. Also, describe how you will teach word patterns in your classroom. Your textbook provides several examples. On page 126, the title of the section is “Be Creative with Word Study.” How can you be creative?
