Specify whether or not you believe there is a compelling public need to have four (4) (i.e., statistical, absolutist, reactivist, and normative) definitions of deviance. Next, debate the primary manner in which these four (4) views either clarify deviant behavior or muddle understanding of an individual’s actions that society does not consider a part of the social norm. Provide a rationale to support your response.

• Use the Internet or the Strayer Library to research one (1) criminal case from your state in which authorities found the defendant to be engaging in deviant behavior. Next, identify the type of deviant behavior in which the defendant was engaged, and specify three (3) characteristics of the defendant’s behavior that likely led the authorities to consider his or her actions deviant.
