Essay 3 Content Requirements

Write a descriptive essay. You may choose to describe a person, place, or object. If you are feeling particularly ambitious, you could try to describe something more abstract like Dillard does in her essay about adolescence.

The essay must:

-       Include an underlined thesis statement that communicates your purpose for writing the description/the dominate impression. Failing to underline your thesis statement results in a “0” for this assignment.

-       Include an introduction and a conclusion

-       Be five paragraphs in length

-       Include many sensory/concrete details to support the “dominate impression”

-       Be formatted according to MLA guidelines

Submission Instructions

Essay 3 must be submitted via the Learning Studio dropbox by Sunday morning, August 14th at 11:59am. Please submit a Microsoft Word document and name your file lastname_essay3.

**Remember that late papers receive a “0” unless you have made arrangements with the instructor before the due date has passed. This policy is outlined in the syllabus. Documented emergencies are the only exception to this policy. In either situation, don’t wait until you see the “0” in gradebook to explain your situation to your instructor. **
