The text in this unit contains the following quote; "Thus the most basic constitutional rule in this area is that ' searches conducted outside the judicial process, without prior approval by judge or magistrate, are per se unreasonable under the Fourth Amendment - subject only to a few specifically established and well- delineated exceptions' The exceptions are 'jealously and carefully drawn' and there must be 'a showing by those who seek exemption.....that the exigencies of the situation made that course imperative.'  (Coolidge v. New Hampshire, 1971)"  The text then goes on at length discussing the exemptions to the basic Fourth Amendment protection.  Select one of the exemptions you do not agree with, identify it and discuss why you think it is unnecessary or too obtrusive.  If you agree with all of the exemptions discussed, state that, but then select one you think could be the most objectionable and discuss why you selected it.
