Confounding and Bias
A study was conducted to assess the effect of diabetes on wound healing in a hospital setting. The cases were defined as either patients admitted to the hospital who had diagnosed diabetes or those who were diagnosed with diabetes while in the hospital and who had surgical or non-surgical wounds. The controls were patients from the surgery ward of the same hospital who were without diabetes.
