Clarification of Roles and Responsibilities
To prepare for this Discussion:
APA FORMAT DURE 9PM NEW YORK TIME
- Review Chapter 2 in the course text, The High-Performance Board. Pay particular attention to the roles and responsibilities of the executive director and the board members.
- Review Chapters 3 and 4 in the course text, The High-Performance Board. Think about how a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities between the executive director and board members might contribute to an organization’s performance and fulfillment of its mission.
- Review the course media, “Board Roles,” with Simone Joyaux. Consider what authority the executive director or individual board members might have in the exercise of corporate governance, if any.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by THURSDAY 9PM NEW YORK TIME an explanation of the differences in roles and responsibilities between an executive director and a board of directors. Be specific and be sure to include in your explanation those that relate to the board as a group and as individuals. Then explain potential consequences of board–staff confusion of roles. Again, provide specific examples.
