You tell your next-door neighbor, Hal, that you are studying to be an I/O psychologist focusing on implementing organizational change initiatives.

Hal does not understand why a large, successful organization would need to undergo change. His opinion is, “If it works, don’t fix it!”

Explain the process of organizational development and the importance of organizational change to Hal.

What types of changes in the environment may lead to organizational change? Rationalize with examples of real organizations that did not adapt to changing environments.

What should organizations do to ensure that changes occur smoothly and efficiently?
