Service learning project

Students will conduct 3 to 5 hours of community service in an organization of their choosing that addresses a social problem of their choosing. At the beginning of the semester, they will email the instructor their choice of organization for approval. After conducting their community service, they will post a 10 slide PowerPoint presentation to the class and write a 3-page paper.

The paper and presentation should contain the following:

• Clear identification of the social problem
• Description of the organization
• Summary of the service learning experience
• Assessment of the organization’s impact on the social problem
• List of outside sources
