ACG 4651-- WRITING PROJECT AND PRESENTATION

PROJECT INFORMATION:

The owner of ABC Co.  has asked your to look into a possible issue with the company's travel expenses.  They have provided you with this year and last year's financial statements and the detail for the travel expense account. You will be conducting some audit procedures for ABC Co. and analyzing the results.

The company has 4 sales managers that travel on a regular basis:  Catherine Ames, Brody Callina, Doug Gartner, and Ustis Soizuka.  The company has issued each of these employees a company Mastercard to be used for business expenses when traveling. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES COVERED:  2-5

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:

·  This project is split into four (4) parts with one (1) part due each week of the course. Based on your readings, use of technology, research of literature, and other sources do the following: 

• Part 1-Review the financial statements given to you by the owner of ABC Co..  Based on the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct prepare a 2-3 page summary of how you plan to proceed to address the owner's concerns and what specific steps you would take to audit this company. 
• Part 2-Using the financial statement file and the data file for travel expenses perform some analytical tests.  
  • You will need to perform some analytical test on the financial statements using Excel.  This may be a horizontal and/or vertical analysis,  ratios, etc. 
  • You will then need to perform some analytical tests on the  travel expense account files using IDEA that you think may be necessary.  Remember there are tutorial videos on the IDEA website to assist you.  Write a 1-2 sentence explanation for each analysis you are performing  and printscreen your results along with the history log when you have completed the analysis in IDEA to turn in this week.   
• Part 3-Prepare a 2-3 page analysis discussing what you found as a result of your analysis and what internal controls you would recommend to the owner of ABC Co.   
• Part 4-Present your project to the class for discussion

WRITING REQUIREMENTS:

·  The report should be should be 4-5 pages in total for the entire project (not including cover page, abstract, or references)

·  Include the Excel and IDEA screenshot(s) or files as exhibits in your paper

·  Include a minimum of 2 scholarly sources from the KU Library and the AICPA 

o  All sources used are to be cited in APA format

o  Please use the writing center if needed

TECHNOLOGY/COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY:

·  You will be using Excel and  IDEA to perform some analysis and results will be included as an exhibit to your paper

·  You will be presenting your findings from the project to the class using the voice-over feature in PowerPoint or YouTube. Please be sure the audio is clear and the file or link is accessible in the Week 4 Presentation discussion board.

·  You will be collaborating with other classmates on their presentations and answering any questions about your own presentation.

 ASSIGNMENT DUE DATE SCHEDULE: 

·  Week 1:  Submit your  part 1 summary

·  Week 2:  Submit your part 2 Excel and IDEA results

·  Week 3:  Submit your part 3 analysis 

·  Week 4:  Present and discuss your project

When you download Audimation_EDU.zip, you will need to right click the file and select “Extract” this will create a new folder location with the unzipped files. At that point you can run setup.exe and the license key should be preconfigured within the software for installation i.e. it will already entered in the license key screen.
