A continuous rectification column operating at 1 atm is to be designed to separate a binary mixture of A and B (A is more volatile than B). A distillate composition (xD) of 94 mol% A is achieved. The liquid overflowing from two adjacent plates contain 58 mol% and 75 mol% A, respectively. The equilibrium curve for the binary system at 1 atm is given in Figure A3. Solve graphically using the equilibrium curve and determine the reflux ratio.
