Assignment Overview

All system stakeholders need a plan to see where they fit in and how long they have to complete the task or tasks needed to successfully implement the system in production. Some tasks can be done independently but, in the end, are necessary, while others are dependent on another task getting done.

In this assignment, you will complete SDP Section 7, Project Plan.

Assignment Preparation

For this assignment, use MS Project or another free Gantt chart creator, like this MS Excel Gantt chart template from Microsoft: Simple Gantt Chart.

• Save the Gantt chart as an embedded image (not the source tool as an object) in Section 7.1, Gantt Chart, of your Software Development Plan (SDP) Template [DOCX]Download Software Development Plan (SDP) Template [DOCX].
• Write at least five substantive and original sentences about the Gantt chart describing types of resources, dates, et cetera.

Assignment Instructions

For this assignment, complete the following:

• Create a Gantt chart with appropriate notations and deliverables.
• Describe the elements of the Gantt chart.
• Justify the selected process methodology.

For the Gantt chart, list the steps needed to design, develop, test, and implement the system in production. These should be high-level stages that include sublevels, such as those that follow:

• Design.
  • Design Database Schema.
  • Design User Interfaces.
  • Design Review.
  • Sign-Off.
• Develop.
  • Develop Database Schema.
  • Develop User Interfaces.
  • Development Review.
  • Sign-Off.
• Test.
  • Implement in test environment.

  • System Stress Testing.
• Implement.
  • Create User Training Manual.
  • Create Developer Document.
  • Train Users.
  • Implement in production environment.

Include:

• Tasks.
• Short Descriptions.
• Plan Start Date.
• Plan End Date.
• Actual Start Date.
• Actual End Date.
• Weekly dates for the columns.
  • Fill in the cells for each week.

Make sure you have dependent phases and that when one ends another starts. You may find it helpful to define all of the tasks and use AI to determine the approximate timing of each phase given your team.

Please do not have all stages start on the same time.

• Estimate how long you think it will take.
• Some stages, such as development, will take longer than others, such testing.

Submission Requirements

• Deliverables: Submit the SDP with Section 7 completed.
• Writing: Write with few spelling, grammatical, or mechanical errors.
• Document Format: Follow APA style and formatting guidelines for resources and citations, if applicable. Refer to Evidence and APA for guidance.
