This is an experiential learning project. You are required to visit one of the players in the food value-added chain (farmer, producer, manufacturer, processor, assembler, wholesaler, retailer, etc.). You will not be graded based on which specific player you chose to visit, but on what you did during your visit and how that enriched your knowledge of material learned in class. However, your visit has to be made specifically to a player in the Agriculture or Food value-added chain not to a company or organization that is not related to food or agriculture. You will receive a grade of zero on your project if you visit a company that is not related to food or agriculture (like a gaming software company for example).

The idea is to interact as best you can with whichever player you choose to visit. Ask questions and try to learn ideas and activities as they relate to the material we cover in the class. Try to have them take you for a tour of the place where they show you more about their activities. This is a great idea to learn more and come up with better questions to ask during your visit.

You are required to turn in the following items for your project:

1. At least three photos documenting your visit. The photos have to make it clear that you visited a specific place. Also, you have to be present in all of the photos. Take photos outside and inside the facility you visit.

2. A two-page report describing your visit and what you learned from this experience. The report has to be structured as follows:

a. One paragraph with a brief introduction and description of the facility you visited

b. Two-three paragraphs describing the questions you asked and the answers your received

c. Two-three paragraphs explaining what you have learned from the visit and how that relates to the material covered in class (i.e., how the visit helped you better understand some of the concepts learned from this course).
